Some post game analysis

From USA Today...
"The benefit extends to the entire conference. The formula isn't complicated: The best team from the Pac-12 is better than the best team in the Big Ten. Whether it's Oregon, Southern California or UCLA, an undefeated or even one-loss Pac-12 champion will offer an argument to the playoff selection committee built around the Ducks' win."

Really looking forward to watching UCLAs season progress. They will be dangerous. KT has to be pissed he missed this game. He is going to be hungry and the PAC is on the menu.

That's only true if Ohio State is the best team in the Big Ten.  If their defense doesn't improve I'm not sure that will be the case.  Great offense but you have to stop the other team, too.

I'm now a big Buckeye fan for the rest of this year, though.  If they romp through the Big Ten again, then everything in the above paragraph is true.

This is one of my faves:
“UW has gone from contender to the biggest disappointment in the country.”

I love that quote!

Re: Some post game analysis

First off, I'm eating crow. I honestly didn't think we had a great chance.

This game is absolutely huge for the Ducks and the conference. It shows we can complete with elite talent and puts us in the driver's seat for the playoffs. It's good for perception of the Ducks and the conference. This will more than likely be the most watched Pac game nationally of the regular season. As I've mentioned before the Ducks have the highest rated viewership nationally in the conference. It's the game everyone is talking about.

To not get too carried away I realize this isn't as good of a Buckeyes team as in recent years. They are still a really good team with elite talent and might improve top level team by the end of the season. For the Ducks to beat them on the road with major injuries is still a huge win.

Go Ducks!

Re: Some post game analysis

Ohio State's offense is probably close to as good as some of their best teams.  They struggled to establish the run but they happened to be up against a pretty good defense that was focused on stopping the run, and they did a pretty good job of taking what we gave them.  They have a pretty good QB and great receivers.

Their defense right now is far from elite.  But their schedule sets up nicely for them.  The next 2 games should be easy wins that get their young players more experience and help them clean up some problems.  They don't have any really difficult road games, the only road game against a team currently ranked is at Michigan (who may not be ranked by then).  They do have to go to Indiana, Rutgers, and Purdue, and Indiana might be dangerous at home.  But right now the only game I'd consider betting against them is PSU, and that's a home game.  They might win them all and I'm hoping they do.  Every game they win makes our win look better.

I'm also an LSU fan this year.  The more they win, the better UCLA looks, and that's good for us, too.
