Some ado being made about Mario giving Kris Hutson a verbal lashing after his penalty took the Ducks out of scoring range on Saturday. I thought the exchange appropriate and really thought it spoke volumes that Hutson looked MC in the eye and allowed himself to be coached up. I think MC learned from Saban when to pick his moments to get the team's attention in the way he did. Folks are acting like he is now the second coming of Mike Stoops or Woody Hayes...

I think MC was totally justified. Hutson did get back into the game.

I don't think it's a big deal. Maybe throwing the headset wasn't necessary, but it's nothing to make a big deal about.
Nothing upsets a coach like a stupid penalty like that. I've bet the players have been warned numerous times not to do stuff like that.

I think MC was taking out frustrations from more than just KH spinning of the ball.

When you do stupid stuff it has consequences. If you learn that lesson by having a coach, who you know loves you, yelling at you, that's a cheap price to pay. Lots of people pay a lot higher price to learn that lesson.
Of course, I'm kind of old school....

MC commented on it in this article.
I think Hutson might have avoided a penalty had he simply spun the ball while moving back to the line of scrimmage...instead he spun the ball, stopped and crossed his arms in arrogance...seemed to me like he was "telling" the Arizona player, "Look what I just did to you?"
I think MC was fine in how he reacted.

K Hutson celebrated like he scored a touchdown when he should have just hustled back and be ready for the next play since there was momentum and time on clock to get some points on the board before the half ended. We'll chalk it up to youth and immaturity and hopefully Kris can move on from that headset-smashing-tongue-lashing "talk" and grow from it. I'm impressed (like Jiffy Jeff) at how he looked straight into coach's eye and took it.
I found it hilarious how J Moorhead and A Feld steered clear of M Cristobal.
