I tend to agree. If Mario doesn't learn to coach, or learn to hand the reigns over to an OC who can, he won't win a national championship, even if he's a national championship level recruiter.
What's the definition of insanity again?
Fact is, we got beat at our own game, badly. And I couldn't see that we had any answers.
We're 9-2. We out-recruited everyone we played this year except tOSU, but we didn't play to a level that showed the talent we have in any game, I think, except tOSU, where we played above our level. I'll take the UCLA game as well, that was a talented and senior-laden team that just dropped 60 on USC. They are pretty good and a road win against an 8 win team is good even if it's close. But the rest of the year, we've underperformed our talent.
If you have a lot more talent, you might go 10-2 or 11-1, but you won't win a national championship. To do that you'll have to beat also-talented teams that have creative and successful coaches.
You have to learn how to get your players ready to come out and perform from the start. And you have to learn how to get them in position to succeed with creative game-planning / play calling and effective player development. I'm not saying Mario can't be the guy because I don't think he's stupid and I think he can learn from failures. But will he?

DITM... excellent points. Right now I can only believe that Cristobal has a massive ego fueled by his pride that he would allow his entire team to suffer because it would make him look weak to divert from his "process."
Other than literally not knowing what to do when you as a coach and your team are being stomped into the ground, what other reason could it be?
He has a luxury of 4 QB's with 2(Ashford and Butterfield) who have now been with the team before the 2020 season and I am supposed to believe with zero points scored and down by 28 at halftime nobody else is capable of playing QB except AB???
If that is the case then we have a coaching staff with no abilities to develop someone in that position... setting aside for the moment AB is a 6-year senior who goes up and down weekly.

I wouldn't make that assumption. I mean, I can't rule it out, you may be right.
But I learned a long time ago that it's a mistake to assume a moral failure when incompetence can explain the facts, because there's probably even more incompetence in the world than there is moral failure, as incredible as that may seem. I suspect we've failed to develop a backup, responsibility for which is probably shared between Moorhead and the prior OC, with the lion's share on the latter.
I also suspect MC is a true believer in his "process" and so it's not so much ego as a massive blind spot. But his process just got crammed down his throat, which could be the best thing that ever happened to him.

You would think that his "process", since it supposedly involves a physical run game, would have been on full display against a Utah team that had given up big yardage on the ground to other teams, including the Beavs. However, even tho our backs were averaging 5 yards a carry, we went completely away from the run, except for AB keeping the ball instead of handing it off. The Utes never stopped the run..MC/JM did that. I consider this an incredible failure on the coaching staff. Really bummed today.

I’m most disappointed with Moorhead. He had a terrible game plan. A Brown throwing? T Dye not as involved? A razzle dazzle play? This wasn’t the winning formula this entire season. Why did the OC draw up plays that took each player out of their strengths.
Second person I’m disappointed in is A Brown. Totally understand why M Pittman left disrespected. All A Brown does is look for D Williams.

Beavs looked pretty good last night. I dont give us any better chance of beating them then Utah.
MC has this team in disarray. Definitely has a lack of offensive experience and where was Moorehead's game planning???? Is he still the OC or is it just a symbolic position???To me, the Beavs know who they are, and they stick to what they do best. I expect they'll run a ton next week, and their QB is certainly capable of exploiting our secondary. It seems to me our kids are worn down..maybe lighten up the practices this week, tho probably not. We have a ton of injuries, and many come in practice. Gotta admit, last night has me really bummed. We rolled over and let the Utes have their way. All the talk of being a physical team is just that: talk.
Im still trying to figure out the Ducks identity. I know we have had a bunch of injuries but we should have an identity by now.
