Coaching Carousel

Stated it before, but I like watching the carousel and seeing who goes where and how it affects where other dominoes fall.  Love the Riley move to SC, I think this is a huge win for that program and the timing could not work better in their favor in terms of recruiting now that the Trojans are done for the year.  Also a good boon for the P12, SC carries arguably the most weight in the conference in terms of how outsiders perceive the legitimacy of the conference.  Also think it is an indictment from Riley on the OU move to the SEC, where good programs are being turned in to smaller fish in a larger fishbowl.  Texas may simply never recover their past glory- ever- in this arrangement.

Speaking of the SEC, hate that there is so much in-conference jumping of coaches, almost seems like watching the NFL carousel where the same names recycle every few years...

From a UO standpoint, I think we all agreee that this is not MC's last stop, his "dream job" not being Oregon.  If he bolts now instead of in five years, I will not be surprised.  Coaching is transient by nature and loyalty is rarely a two-way street between coach and administration.  You get while the getting is good and stay ahead of the hook if you can.  Results may vary.  Want to see MC stay and see this through to a championship, but am open to seeing what happens if his domino moved...

Regarding loyalty and program stability, the Beavers are in terrific shape.  They have a coach who wants to be there and has a track record of success that could translate to a North title quickly if UO has a transition at the top this season.

Thinking out loud...

Re: Coaching Carousel

Agree with all your points. I too like watching all that happens in the firing / hiring phases of college football. Staying within the Pac-12 the uw head coach hire will be interesting and likewise the status of Chip Kelly. I am wondering if the Lincoln Riley hire by USC has impacted the decision process at either of those two schools? Plus if ASU, who apparently has decided to keep Edwards for another season, will now change its mind because his status(NCAA investigations) are going to be used heavily against him in recruiting. I think WSU made a good decision keeping their interim head coach.
