Welcome to The Duck Room. We're an old school Oregon Ducks fan site dedicated to our University of Oregon Ducks sports. This community is centered around sharing updates, news stories, and opinions, and thoughts related to Oregon Ducks sports.
One of the best things besides the great users we have on here is that The Duck Room is completely free. Always has been and always will be. Don't be shy as everyone can post your latest thoughts on the Ducks. Just see the few simple rules below.
1. Common sense community standards apply.
2. Posts of political nature of post that would lead to such matters do not belong here, there's a whole internet for that.
3. Fans of different teams are allowed here as are difference of options, however trolling is not tolerated.
4. We have to abide by copyright laws, which means quoting an articles story and posting links works. On the contrary copy and pasting entire copyrighted stories is against the rules.

Kalen DeBoer new husky head coach
All things considered, this is a good hire. FSU battled Oregon and UCLA this year to the end. If you had to pick a non-P5 head coach to run a P5 program...hard to find fault with DeBoer.
Maybe I am too Duck self-conscious but this hire and Riley sends a message...they are coming after Oregon with physicality, recruiting and offensive creativity.

Coached under Tedford..looks like solid credentials..quite a step up for him. Anything that can get the PAC back to solid winning football is good all around. Competition will raise the profile, which is pretty low in football right now.

I agree. UW fans no doubt wanted a hire like USC or LSU made but honestly, people like that don't want to go to UW right now, if they ever did.
What they need right now is someone who can get them back to respectability. That means they need A) someone who can at least be somewhat competitive in the recruiting battles and B) someone who can actually coach and get their players to play up to, if not above, their talent level. If they get that, they'll at least return to being a perennial bowl team and usually in the conversation for the P12 North. They should have a program that is at least that good but they haven't been, and it's going to take a rebuild.
I think they've hired a solid coach who will get them back to a competitive level. He may or may not be able to take them to consistent P12 championship contenders but the home run hires aren't interested in going to a dumpster fire, and he should be able to at least put out the dumpster fire and get them back on track to where that program should be.
