Here's the first of surely many more to come.
With the way the offense has looked I would actually feel better about going to Oregon with different coach. Of course I'm an armchair QB and not recruit.
This is what I've been lamenting about the timing of the HC switch. Of course you're going to get a bunch of decommits when the head coach and presumably everyone else is leaving. A new coach will bring some new commits on board. I'm afraid we're short on time though. At least signing a LOI isn't what it used to be and a new coach can still flip recruits that will be eligible. So many players enter the transfer portal now, which will be an option to patch up areas of need.
Buckle up

I am okay with this one IF we can keep the 3 we have now. Plus Bailey wasn't going to play anyway for 2-3 years under Cristobal's "process"...so we haven't lost much...yet.

Have a feeling that many recruits will see who the next coach is and then make their call. Parents and kids enjoy the spotlight in this process for the most part, so lots of Tweeting to occur in the next few days.

We're going to lose plenty of kids..but the transfer portal is our friend. Sad as it is, that is probably the route we'll go for a couple of years. I do want to see our QBs given a chance, if they stay.

For now TT and Robbie Ashford are staying.

Devon Jackson is gonna be a leader on the team.

And once Oregon hires a head coach, decommits and transfers will happen TO the program.
What I do believe is what Ken Woody wrote in his column after the second Utah loss and MC's departure...
"...another nationally ranked recruiting class isn’t going to make a difference for Oregon. What will make a difference will be with better, more effective coaching..."

I’m sorry to see McGee leave.

Yeah, was hoping not to lose kids already on the roster. I'm suppose there will be more...gonna suck until a new staff is in place.

What disappoints me is he said many times throughout his years in HS that he loved our school. As soon as there was a coaching change he shows that it is the coach that he loves, and not our school. All the best to him, but...

Come on. Seriously. You are ripping on a young man because of what he said in high school...HIGH SCHOOL!?? Good grief. That is exactly what is wrong with the whole recruiting culture. People are way too invested in where teenage boys choose to go to college.
Plus he probably figured he would play for a head coach who wasn't a beginner and learning on the job.
A defensive coordinator gets his first ever head coaching job and almost immediately it is reported he is targeting a 31-year old OC who has been coaching like 5-years and currently has the 9th best offense in the ACC. If I was in his shoes, I would be gone too.

I didn't get the impression KONA was ripping on the kid..he did wish him well. It's tough not to be disappointed when a kid gushes about Oregon, then bolts when the staff changes. Still, it's the right of every kid to do what's best for them. I too wish him well.
and after all that, he changes his mind and won't enter the portal..Kids

Great news! Apparently he changed his mind after talking to Lanning.
When I heard Akili Smith interviewed earlier today he said a number of the players were doing backflips when they heard Lanning was the hire. Akili is supporting Lanning too.
