I think Canzano has an argument for UO's next head coach hire

After losing our last 2 head coaches to "going home"...Canzano thinks Oregon needs to do the same i.e. someone who would "come home" to the Pacific Northwest and Oregon.

Option B, with Aranda the clear favorite in my book.  Splashy, but in a decent way.  I have changed my thought process on the "coming home" philosophy as one only to be used if the program needs an injection of stability after a tailspin like the one Helf created.  JSmith at OSU was an inspired "coming home" pick and given time and resources he is doing what he was hired to do...

Re: I think Canzano has an argument for UO's next head coach hire

He makes a good point for the most part. Everyone knew that Mario good jump to be back close to home at some point. It was a known risk.

I think Mario truly planned on sticking around to win a title and it was just a matter of circumstances that led to his departure.

Out of the list of coaches with local ties Chris Peterson is the only coach I would be excited about. I'm not sure he's interested in coaching and he wouldn't necessarily be a long term solution even if he took the job with the way he left the Huskies.

I think Canzano was probably just making a point about the Ducks trying to swing for the fences with Urban Meyer. I would certainly think everyone knows the University wouldn't except the character issues.

I'm fine at this point with Wilcox. Give him plenty of money for his assistants, and see what happens. Aranda I am sure is not interested..Campbell would be fine with me also. Meyer is a NO FUCKING WAY!!!!!

How about Wilcox WITH Bill Musgrave as the OC?!?

I did a little research...

Oregon(13 games) is 4th this year in the Pac-12 in Total Offense; Cal(12 games) 8th...

Oregon rushed for about 600 more yards than Cal BUT had only 100 more passing yards...all with Cal running about 100 FEWER PLAYS!

Give Wilcox and Musgrave the Oregon roster...I like and Oregon would certainly give them both more money.

I would be fine with this hire, plus DeRuyter was Cal's DC, so possibly keeping much of the staff in place. To me, having an Oregon guy would be solid, tho MH was also that guy. Still, I would rather do this than sign someone you know will be looking to move on.

Decent interview, but yeah, time to truly turn the page as this carousel is spinning pretty fast...

I thought it was a pretty stand up thing for Mario to do an interview. Like Canzano said what coach would take the time for an interview in this situation?

We lost a good person in coach Cristobal. I actually listened to clownzano’s show just because I wanted to hear what Mario had to say.

I typically only listen to Canzano if I'm driving. I might even tune in during work again today to see if he has any new news on the Ducks. For all his faults he does have better connections than most journalist when it comes to the Ducks.

Re: I think Canzano has an argument for UO's next head coach hire

I'm listening to Cazano right now. He's saying he's heard from inside sources that the Ducks have an A list of big splash hires and a B list more of coaches with local ties. The A list candidates are getting the calls first. The biggest piece of news from all this is that Chip Kelly is supposedly at the top of the B list. It was his opinion that Wilcox could be a 2 option, but thinks there's concerns about his ability to recruit and fans willingness to buy tickets.
