Wisdom from Ken Woody

He writes a weekly column for the Register-Guard(paid content) reviewing the most recent Oregon football game. Here are his final thoughts on this week's column and he is correct in my opinion...another stellar recruiting class is of little value at this moment...Oregon needs coaching.

"College football is all about money and Duck fans have now tasted the bitter aftertaste of coaches putting their needs above the players.’ Now, all hell will break loose with recruits and currently enrolled players checking their priorities and making transfers to more hopeful, stable schools. It will be interesting to see the outcomes of the loyalty check that lies ahead. It’s going to be a long, dark winter and bringing in another nationally ranked recruiting class isn’t going to make a difference for Oregon. What will make a difference will be with better, more effective coaching; that’s something to look forward to and it’s achievable."

I have always liked Coach Woody..he's been around a long time, and I attended some clinics he gave years ago. It's been good to hear some of the commits say they're solid with Oregon: Ben Roberts, Gracen Halton, and Devon Jackson to name three. I agree, getting the right hire is more important than one recruiting class.

I’m disappointed with the local, and legacy, kid (Winston) for bailing out.

Yeah, it does seem he would have waited, but we can't blame the kids for doing what they feel benefits them. He may return once a new coach is in place.
