Tough couple years

The past couple years have been difficult to stay excited for football. Between covid, non football issues seeping in and the eye appeal of watching Duck football this season, it has been extremely disappointing. 10-3 is a great record, but... I watched every game. Just unsatisfying.
This Lanning hire has me excited for my team again. Feels like when Kelly was given the reigns and the excitment surrounding Duck football at that time. The stable is full on both sides of the ball and now is the time to go for broke.
"Lanning who?" Was my first thought, I was pulling for Kiffin (yea he is a mercenary) because of the existing talent and Kiffins offensive mind. The guys brilliant post Bama. After about 10 minutes researching Lanning he became my lean. This kid is going to be a Rockstar of a coach. Hoping anyhow. I am all in and excited for Duck football again.

Re: Tough couple years

Same here, I think Mario leaving is actually a good thing. I'm eager for next season to start and see what Lanning could do. With Mario it would be a let's hope he decides to let his OC do something different. It would be nice to bring back some energy on the field and hear Autzen roar like it used to. Mario has been putting fans to sleep for the past couple years.

Re: Tough couple years

This reminds me of the quote, "Be careful what you ask for." I am elated Cristobal is gone but really, Lanning? I haven't been this dejected about Oregon football since Helfraud's last season.

My hopes were high as two schools with National Championship DNA but coming off lousy seasons "got their man"...USC and LSU. Then the huskies got their man, a respected head coach from the MWC.

Cool...now its the Ducks turn...and poof...a coordinator with no head coaching experience from across the country.

Excuse me if this reeks of Cristobal's hiring...all the hype, energy and certainly a guy who played on AND coached National Championship teams which included working with Nick Saban would be able to turn Oregon into a national power(not in recruiting classes but in actual play)...and here we are 4-years later playing in the Alamo Bowl.

I am not falling for that same nonsense again...Lanning can say whatever he wants; NOTHING between now and the first game next season will mean a thing to me. I never imagined Oregon's hiring standards could sink so low.

This was a hire of Craigslist level: Wanted. College football head coach. Elite program. No previous head coaching experience needed. Will train. Enthusiasm a plus.
Excellent benefits.
