Now that most of the dust has settled with the carousel and early recruiting, like to suggest we get back to our regularly scheduled programming of idle banter...
Question is what was your most memorable experience at Autzen? Was it seeing a particular team or player? Was it the best college football game you ever saw in person? Was it a personal moment with a particular family member or friend? No need to limit the answer to just one thing, pretty sure there are quite a few for each of us...

Great idea for a post!
I had a great time at the Cal game in 2019 with my dad and aunt's family. The Ducks defense held it down until Justin could get something going. I wouldn't say it was the best on field performance, but we had such a good time. Ducks fans are always so happy when Sweet Caroline comes on. What summed up Ducks fans being so great is when we were leaving to catch the shuttle bus back at the Mall where we parked. My aunt has bad knees. A large group of students was in front of us in line. When the next bus was available and starting to fill up someone in the student group stepped up to the front and said wait a minute let them go first. I think he noticed my aunts bad knees. Anyhow, it was a thoughtful and kind act that summed up what great character most Duck fans are. It was just such a great time with family in such a great atmosphere to watch a game with the best fans.

Mine was my being there with my new roommate and a few other Tingle floormates, downing jagermeister from a bota bag while watching the Ducks take down byu. That was my first ever game at Autzen, and beating the "hated" cougars had been a rare experience for me during my freshman and sophomore years at UH Manoa.
To note: jagermeister is no longer something I can stomach.

jeez . . . third-floor Tingle 1981-82. used to lie in that grass bowl where nobody could see us and . . . and then just stare up at the sky. those were the daze.

Well growing up in Eugene from the mid-60's; graduating from the UO in the 1970's and leaving Eugene in 1982... quite honestly, I cannot recall a favorite game as the Ducks were awful. A successful season really came down to the winner of the Civil War...for both schools.
During my college years they won a total of 11 games under head coaches Dick Enright and Don Read...team ran the Veer offense.
So from a VERY LIMITED list of choices, I would pick the 1975 Civil War and an underwhelming 14-7 Oregon victory.
That win represented only Oregon's second Civil War win since 1963(about a week after JFK's assassination)...but before we moved to Eugene (my dad was on the faculty)...when the football games were played at Hayward Field...so it was my first Civil War victory and little did we know...Oregon would not lose that game again until 1988 save the famous Toilet Bowl tie of 0-0 in 1983.
I still contend, that winning streak over osu kept Rich Brooks(his first year was 1977) employed as the head coach...we were beating osu on an annual basis so what could be better? Which allowed him to establish a good foundation for the future.
Even after that 1988 loss we still beat osu 7 of the next 9 games and were on our way to the Oregon football we see today!😁

because everybody loves Listicles . . .
1) The Pick. that includes Duane Jones rumbling 12 yards on a 3rd-and-long fullback draw for the go-ahead TD, and Danny O'Neill moving the Ducks 98 yards after Patrick Johnson touched knee to ground fielding the KO.
2) Keenan Howry 'light this candle' punt return 2001 CW. first and only outright P10/12 championship for Bellotti as HC.
3) 2009 War for the Roses. first time in history, probably the last. LGB pancaking that Krispy Kreme kid. LMJ busting for 50 right in front of my seat to take the lead. Kenny Rowe putting Canfield on his back the entire second half as Aliotti's D put the handcuffs on.
4) Marcus Woods running over Ty Detmer in the end zone for a safety; whole 'BY WHO!?' game on a beautiful Sept afternoon. nat'l TV w Brent Mushmouth on the mic.
5) U0-Michigan. blocked UO FG attempt returned for TD. UO punt return for TD ('Stevie Moore is in the house'). blocked punt (Keith Lewis) recovered in end zone (JD Nelson) for two-score lead. blocked XP (Igor?), 31-27 w 2 min left, causing M to attempt onside kick, which they recovered. a decade's worth of special teams action in one sunny afternoon.
6) Reggie Bush-Lendale White-Matt Leinart SC team from 2005. ultra-dirty program for which Tommy is still paying the price today. man those guys were good. Ducks led 13-10 at half; lost 45-13.
7) back-to-back games v Top 5 opponents in 2007: SC and Sparky. think we hit 60,000 both games. Jonathan Stewart got the handoff on almost every first down, and the whole house knew it, but he still got 5, 6, 8 yards each time. teed up Chip's whole playbook while SC stayed in base D. Dixon tweaking his knee on a hit by the ASU sideline; could tell from Erickson's reaction it wasn't gonna be good.
8) Bill Musgrave wins over the Dawgs in 1987 and 1988. newbies won't remember, but 15K of the 45,000 in attendance back in the day were UW fans. Terry Obee 49 Special in 1988 still an all-timer.
9) UO-Sparty on national TV in 2014; huge come-from-behind W. wouldn't have been a Rose Bowl w/o--it was a 'playoff' venue that year. Royce Freeman, true frosh. Wow. Tyler Johnstone was out for the year, and Andre Big Y got dinged, so in stepped frosh Tyrell Crosby on the Big Stage.
last one . . . guarantee nobody else has it:
UO-Cal 1994 mid-October. Ducks are 3-3 and badly banged up following a loss in Pullman ('there goes a team that will not win another game this season' --Mike Price). next week is UW, the following Sat Dick Tomey's Bear Down Cats. longshot to get to 7-5 (Hawai'i) and make some pizzant bowl game.
even game when Cal executes a perfect toss sweep near midfield. well-blocked, runner has momentum and a lane. Chad Cota comes flying out of nowhere to eat it up for no gain. like everybody else was running in quicksand. it occurred to me that we might have something here.

Most of my favorite game moments are the same as everyone else's, so I'm going to say that in general, my favorite memories are going to games when I was a kid, starting either the first year we moved out to Oregon in the mid-70s (father got a job at UO) or the year after that. Can't remember the exact year, but I was either in first or second grade.
No need to explain the team wasn't exactly great back then (one of my earliest memories of a specific game was Ducks 0, Huskies 55). But at some point, we started getting a four-seat package, which meant I was able to bring a friend, so a lot of the fun was about hanging out and running around the stadium - especially since back then you could walk around the perimeter of the field, through the tunnels, etc.
One thing I've never heard anyone else mention over the years: Back then, everyone brought beverage cans and bottles into the stadium - lots of them - and it was a thing for kids to go around collecting them for deposit money. After every game, you'd see them, garbage bag in hand, combing the stands. My friends and I did it a few times, and at that age it was like a treasure hunt. The worst was when you thought you'd lucked upon a nice cache of cans, only to discover they were Coors - which, as Smokey & The Bandit had taught us, was illegal in most states and therefore ineligible for return. One year, a classmate and I collected them for our fifth grade bottle drive to raise money for a class camping trip.
Now I imagine people would think it was gross or weird or insulting to homeless people, but back then it was a lot of fun.

My favorite moment was when the Ducks took down UCLA to lock in the Freedom Bowl berth in the 1990 season. I rushed the field like the rest of the hoi polloi and helped to hoist one of the goalposts from the field to the stands, where they made their way to the steps of Johnson Hall. The other post ended up I think at some frat house... My parents made their way down for the game and watched in horror as their son joined in the mob...
Other faves:
* My first game as a freshman, marching over with my McAlister dorm mates in 1988 to see Terry Obee's end around run put the final nail in the Husky coffin that day.
* Watching the Ducks take down Ty Detmer and BYU in convincing fashion. Forgot sunscreen that day and when my skin cancer occurs I will point to that specific day. I was a candied apple from the neck up.
* Beating Michigan. That was when I had season tix in Sec 25 and that day ended up high fiving and hugging it out with a Sammy Hagar looking dude with nothing on but Duck boxers and a Duck necktie. If you are on this board and that was you, great day!
* Seeing teams like Tennessee, Mississippi State and others come to Eugene and having great conversations and tipping a few back in the spirit of the game with their fans.
Most sentimental game was with my Dad at the USC game when we lost on a missed Maldonaldo FG as time expired. He was a huge Fleetwood Mac fan and the Trojan band was gracious enough to let him take a couple pix with them before the game, he screamed like a fangirl when Chip ran on the field in pregame warmups, high fived everyone in the section with each score and lost his voice in the process. Late night drive home was quiet as he was tuckered out. Cancer caused from Agent Orange back in Vietnam (1st Cav 1967-68) came over him soon after, glad we were able to get that last one in and have it be a fun day.
Cheers to all, Merry Christmas and see you all back on the boards next week for the bowl game!
