O Line coach target

Re: O Line coach target

Three rings as a player, that is a lot of cred right there to reel in and develop the line.

Lanning seems to have the mindset that it all starts with the lines and hopefully we can get both units back on track.

Shades of Willie Taggart and  Irele Oderinde?

Re: O Line coach target

"Red flags" is an understatement. Those lawsuits were filed this week. Sadly it seems the injuries either happened in practices or were made worse by practices. There is no argument for making this hire with this litigation going on.

Here is another hire, a DB coach, who was on the same UCLA staff Klemm was a part of...Mullens will know about all this, so guess we'll see...

Re: O Line coach target

Here is some updated info: it appears the coaches were dropped from the lawsuits.

Re: O Line coach target

Penalized by the NCAA in 2016 for "ethical conduct violations." Does Oregon really need this guy?

Re: O Line coach target

You guys remember this?  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLx0aTwhOvQ

Probably none of us can possibly know whether the allegations in the lawsuit are true.  If they are, I can't imagine why the coaches have been dropped from it, which makes me doubt them but I certainly don't know.

But that was a dysfunctional situation down there at UCLA, so it isn't surprising that not every player loved their coaches.  If you have that kind of stuff in that video going on, you're going to have coaches who don't respect each other, at least some coaches who don't respect their players, and vice versa.  Out of that comes acrimony and accusations.  Whether the accusations are true or not, it was the culture of the coaching staff and team that set the tone for them.

That doesn't mean it's Klemm's fault.  It starts at the top with Mora, IMO.  Whether Klemm is guilty of the accusations or just the fall guy for Mora running a dysfunctional setup, I couldn't possibly know.  You'd have to think if Klemm really did what the lawsuit said, there would be plenty of evidence and plenty of reason to keep him in the lawsuit.

I don't really know what to think about the proposed hire.  If he's just the fall guy in these accusations, he deserves another chance, I suppose.  If he's abusive, that doesn't usually just go away, guys do the same again, and you think you would hear about it at Pittsburgh, etc.

Looks like the Klemm is official.

From a football perspective I love this hire.

I'm with DITM in that I wouldn't know what transpired at UCLA and how Klemm conducted himself then and in recent times. Lanning and then Rob Mullens and company better have gotten good information and investigated the matter thoroughly. It's their job to insure the health and safety of student athletes.

It looks like the hire is being perceived well nationally.

“Permission to leave immediately” kind of gives me pause.

What do I know, I don’t have any sources. I’ve been a Steeler fan far longer than I’ve been a Duck. The Steelers O Line is horrid this year, but I’ll chock it up to being filled with young players. I’m in for some rough years with the Steelers so I’m hoping A Klemm will be amazing with the Ducks.

Go Steelers!
Go Ducks!

I didn't know you're a Steelers fan. I'm a Bears fan and can tell you about bad O Lines and rough years. The Steelers have been contenders for a long time and seem like they're ran and coached well for the most part. Bears fans don't pretend to be good as we've been critical of our team management for ages. I've at least seen a few stellar defensives. I was too young to remember much of the 85 Bears. I still watch and follow them regardless.

I hope Klemm will be amazing too. Maybe they just wanted to move on from a guy with 1 foot out of the door already.

Re: O Line coach target

Disappointed to see a continuing decline in hiring standards for the Oregon football program.

First we hire a head coach with no previous experience at the position.

Following that an OC whose team finished 9th out of 14 teams in consecutive years in the ACC in Total Offense.

Now a guy who the NCAA penalized for ethical conduct violations which lead him to be out of coaching for 2-years(2017 and 2018).

Now the fact the Steelers, apparently, have never had an assistant coach leave within the season, yet have agreed to his departure...despite the team not yet eliminated from the playoffs, speaks volumes.

I remember thinking because Cristobal had won a National Championship as a player and coach coupled with his great recruiting track record would certainly translate into Oregon becoming an elite college team...only to find out he had MAJOR blind spots as a head coach that he refused to address.

So Klemm winning championships as a PLAYER in the NFL but never yet on a COACHING STAFF in either college(SMU and UCLA) or the NFL(Pittsburgh) seems like another downgrade in the hiring practices at the University of Oregon.

Jack Lambert is why I became a Steeler fan. J Lambert and T Polumalu are my all time favorites.

After college, I was taken in by a family of Bears at a pub I went to. Very friendly and passionate fans, so I became a bit of a Bears fan too.

The 85 Bears were RIDICULOUS!
