This is from a New Mexico beat writer, and sheds some light on who he is...

So let's see...Oregon hires a QB ANALYST who has been a RB coach and recruiting coordinator for the past 2-years at New Mexico, one of the worst college football programs in the country year after year(They scored more than 17 points this past season in their first two games and never again the rest of the season) but hire a RB COACH with half the coaching experience for that position as Somerville (1-year compared to 2-years)???
At least Somerville coached at a school in the Mountain West Conference. But then again maybe it is because Somerville has zero playing experience and like 4-years ago was a student at Arizona State.
So there is not ONE former Oregon player who could have been hired as an analyst?

Another article about what a great recruiter Oregon has hired. That’s awesome, but I really hope these guys are are great coaches and strategists as well.
I wonder if Oregon is hiring guys known mainly for recruiting, or if the writers are focusing on it because it’s a hot topic?

Recruiting does seem to be the dominant theme in these hires, tho previous experience with Lanning might be another main issue. I'm not sure we'll know about their ability to coach until we see on-field results, but Lanning has been around some good coaches, and doesn't seem afraid to take what he's learned and apply it to his choices for staff. "Trust the coaches" is gonna be my mantra for now..not much choice.
