In the portal. That sucks for Coug football.
IMO this is the major downside of the portal. You bring a good kid in and develop him in a fair to middling program and once he thinks he has the game figured out he jumps. I thought he was in a great system and was the de facto starter from here on….

That one surprised me as well. While I like the idea of kids being able to do what coaches have been doing for years, I agree there is a downside to the portal. I wonder if eventually the NCAA will put a time limit on it, tho I honestly wonder if the NCAA will be relevant much longer.

NIL is just going to add fuel to the fire. Anyone playing well at a smaller schools can get paid to go elsewhere.
They probably should've put limits on it, but it may be past the point of no return now.

Yep, it's gonna be tough to put rules and limits on the portal now..here is a take from the Orlando Sentinel..

They fired the coach who recruited him, right? And that coach is suing them because he considers it to have been a wrong dismissal.
Is it any wonder if someone from that program jumps? Not to me. It doesn't matter what one's view is of the firing and what triggered it, it simply isn't surprising that some of the kids he recruited and that were following and believing in his leadership would decide they don't want to be there anymore.
I don't know this kid and his reasoning at all but even if the portal rules hadn't changed drastically in recent years, the circumstances would make you expect some kids would want to change. So I don't think the portal is necessarily really the story on this particular transfer.

There are too many unknowns for me to get that invested in why someone is transferring.
Who knows, maybe the WSU head coach told him he would be making some adjustments in the approach to the offense that de Laura didn't like?
His top receiver(forget his name) and the RB Borgi are done...that could be a reason?
Sometimes coaches give players a nudge towards the exit. I won't be surprised if some Oregon players head to the portal after Spring Camp... either due to recognizing they are further down the depth chart than desired or at the suggestion of the coaches or?
Last year Cyrus Habibi-Likio wanted to be an every down RB. Shough allegedly had some issues with Moorhead. I think bringing in Bo Nix was the tipping point for Robby Ashford.
One thing is for certain, the portal is a MAJOR FACTOR in college football.

Whichever team gets de Laura is gonna be happy bunch — a gun slinger playing with a chip on his shoulders.
