RG position reviews

The RG began its Oregon football position reviews.

Sorry but reading this does not change my belief that bringing in Nix was an absurd and unnecessary decision.

And this writer, in classic homer-journalism style is living in a beyond fantasy world if he believes what he wrote about Butterfield...that he has a "bright future at Oregon" even if he is the third QB on the depth chart???

Seriously? A guy who has already spent 2 seasons at the UO and basically has not played at all, has a "bright future" as a backup to a backup??? Please.

I don't like how Cristobal handled the QB position and I don't like what Lanning has done either.

Re: RG position reviews

I am pretty much convinced that Oregon may lose one or both of these returning QBs after Spring Ball.  They have been loyal to the program and have bitten their tongues during what was arguably the worst era of Oregon offense since Ryan Perry-Smith was under center.  I get why the new OC recruited Nix to come here, but it may short circuit any depth this coming season if Nix is out for any stretch of time.  Think this is what happens when there are more dollars than sense with college coaching staffs anymore...

Re: RG position reviews

At this point I'm in "trust the coaches" mode. It's really all we can do. We'll see what happens after the spring game. probably not many moves until then for transfers.

True... nothing else we can do, BUT after trusting Cristobal and then watching Lanning's start...I am on the skeptical end of the spectrum.

Lanning was barely a week or too into the job and he didn't trust what he had at the QB position with three 4* or 5* CURRENT players...so he brings in Nix.

He couldn't wait until Spring Camp to actually see what he had with players practicing under his coaching???

Bo Nix will be the starting QB regardless...unless he is injured. He wasn't brought in to be a backup. Dillingham has worked with him previously. Any QB competition is in name only.

My hope is Thompson and Butterfield go 1-2 either way and Nix is third string.

Maybe T Thompson and J Butterfield isn't as good as their HS ratings. No one here, or the media, knows since practices were closed and none of the other players talked about them like the talk that came out of practices during D Thomas and M Mariota's practices. Also, neither of them really made a splash during spring games like Marcus did.
I do hope Thompson or Butterfield beats out B NIx.
