I saw that March Madness viewership is up this year.
As a lot of people have pointed out the NLI has only increased player movement. Top players have been only playing 1 year for a while. While this might be frustrating for serious fans that want to see players build chemistry and improve together, but March Madness might be a different story.
The tournament brings out casual fans every year. Back at the office a few years ago we had over 60 people fill out brackets with a giant updated bracket on the wall. I was happy to come in 3rd, which was a little embarrassing considering the 1st and 2nd place finishers knew nothing and hadn't watched anything that season. My friend who is a serious fan and knowledgeable and all spent hours researching analytics and all and did horribly. It's almost like a casino type attraction with the brackets and all.
One-and-dones don't detract from the casual fans March Madness experience. In a way it levels the field a little bit in that the small no name school with 4 year players that don't have the talent to go to the NBA, but have an experience advantage and can at least beat some big schools for a while. It makes for an entertaining experience.
I think the tournaments success might just be one-and-done proof. As long as a mass movement of players don't ditch college entirely the tournament can be successful.

My wife won the pool one year. Totally threw darts. She hit a final four that had lower seeds and also guessed the correct champ.
Love when the mid-major experience takes out the one-and-doners. Hard to argue against your point now that we have seen a 16 seed advance to the second round.
