Some insight into the offense so far from Matavao

“Coach Dillingham has done great ways to just find more explosive ways to move the offense on the field vertically,” said Matavao. “And I think that's what we kind of miss a lot last year. So right now we're really explosive as a unit, as a tight end unit. I think there's a lot of depth, a lot of competition between all of us and it's fun to be playing with them.“It's actually a lot of fun because compared to last year, at the tight end, we're used a lot more vertically stretched the field. We're doing a lot of different blocking schemes. It's fun to play football right now. It's a lot of fun.”

I am thankful it is more fun because Cristobal and his "process" were a buzz kill in the fun department for both players(apparently) and fans at Autzen.

I remember going into the first Utah game last season it was published that Oregon had only 5 pass plays of 40 or more yards for the ENTIRE SEASON to that point.

If Oregon just throws the ball downfield this season it will be an improvement and more fun to play and watch.🙏

Dillingham has yet to call plays on his own in his career...all offenses are designed to "work well"...so we will find out if what he is planning for Oregon will be successful.

Fun on the field and fun in the stands is why we love the game.  Wins matter, for sure, but I think we had more fun watching a nine win Belotti/Tedford offense that a nine win Cristobal/Moorhead offense and I am sure the players felt the same.
