Pac-12 Champions again! 😁

Congratulations to the men and women of Oregon for winning the Pac-12 Championship in track and field!

I am guessing there is not a single P5 college team, men or women in any sport, who have won every conference championship since 2007 = the track and field men of Oregon!

Re: Pac-12 Champions again! 😁

This was an awesome, dominating performance across the board.  USC was supposed to challenge the men if they could rack up the points in the sprints, but in event after event Oregon matched or beat the form chart.  Even if the sprints had gone heavily USC's way, it wouldn't have been enough, but Micah Williams swept the sprints and Oregon outscored USC in both the 100 and 200.

Oregon's women were never going to be challenged.  It was always going to be a cakewalk anyway, and then Alessia Zarbo, who had never run a 10K before, on Friday finished under the old meet record and took 8 points for second.  And there were so many events like the women's high jump where Tori Sloan had the 5th best height coming in and took 3rd.  6 points instead of 4 isn't going to win the conference but when you do it in event after event it turns a win into a rout.

Re: Pac-12 Champions again! 😁

we purchased tics for the NCAA finals Friday June 10 & Sat June 11. only $34 for good seats. UO doesn't have enough horses/fillies to contend for national championships this year, but should be a great show nonetheless.

That is exactly what makes track and field so great to watch in team competitions.

Yes if you only have 3 athletes total who qualified then no you won't win the championship but if you have enough athletes who qualified then anything can happen...good and bad. What is on paper is irrelevant. In any event like so many score changing actions can occur...DQ'd, fouls, missed heights, dropped baton, running out of lane, injury, not making it out of prelims, etc...I have seen it all at Hayward Field. Weather can also play a role.

You have to be mathematically eliminated(vs clock running out) and the Ducks on their home turf have as good a chance as anyone.
