PAC-12 changes to CCG

Probably lots more changes on the way. Also, the NCAA says 85 is the limit on scholarship totals, but eliminates the 25 player cap on recruiting classes.

Re: PAC-12 changes to CCG

Wow...this is HUGE. What stands out right away is the obvious... winning a Division guarantees you nothing.

Also previously a team could absorb a bad loss to an opponent in the other Division yet still be okay within their own Division. Different dynamic now...a bad loss to a team in the other Division could allow 2 teams from that Division playing for the championship.

Speaking of, looks like "no Divisions at all" are coming soon.

Yep. That's something being considered ...no divisions at all. It's a trend:we will probably see other conferences go in that direction.

Re: PAC-12 changes to CCG

I can't argue with the new plan in terms of fairness. However, this probably isn't the best for the Ducks in the short term at least. The South seemingly has 2 of the top 3 teams.

Definitely less wiggle room. No measurable safety margin.

Lanning, DeBoer and even Dickert at WSU MIGHT have been able to navigate a weaker North Division and come in first place or at least be competitive within the Division...now that is less relevant. You have to be better than everybody.

The goal is to have the 2 best teams meet for the championship and if any conference needs to "look good" it is the Pac-12.
