How cool is that..

Sure is!
That's too bad Devon Allen got disqualified last weekend.
I have too much going on and won't be making it down to see anything in person unfortunately. I've been to a number of track events at the old Hayward. Has anyone been?

we will be attending Saturday & Sunday; haven't been there yet. tics are $85. my freshman dorm was in Hamilton complex just three blocks away. we could watch the dual meets for free as students, and jog around the track in the evenings after practice was done (gates were wide open).
during my undergrad years it was Rudy Chapa and Alberto Salazar vs Wazzu's John Chaplin and his 30-year-old Kenyans (nice article on Henry Rono in the NYT in the past few weeks). when I was in grad school it was Joaquim Cruz, Dub Myers (Parkrose HS), and Kory Tarpenning (sp?) & and NCAA championship in 1984.
can't wait to see what $270 mill can buy.

the UO alumni magazine dropped in my mailbox a few weeks ago. including this profile of Devon . . .
the final three paras are worth a read. I have not seen this written anywhere else in all the hullabaloo, although I haven't had time to pay attention. seems like it might be kinda important.
also some good stuff on Rudy Chapa and Raevyn Rogers . . .

Have fun, I'll be interested to hear your impressions on the new Hayward.

I went to the evening session of the first day...watched 7 heats of the 100m for men.
LOVE the new Hayward Field! Cushioned seats with cup holders; great views and an awesome design feature of having enough space in front of you to stretch your legs out...plus I didn't have to stand up once for people walking in front of me going to and from their seats...just turned my legs slightly right or left.😁
No more sitting in the tuck position with your knees nearly touching the back of the person in front of you.🙏
Walked partially through one of the display areas in the East side with old photograps and memorabilia...really cool.
Important to remember this is a combination stadium, training center, "museum"...a comprehensive track and field athletic facility.

I'll have to check it out sometime.
The comfortable seats sound like a big bonus. I never brought a cushion before and rememberer the wooden rows to not be so great. Of course when you're young it doesn't matter too much.
