Whether I agree or disagree with him, I often learn something from watching Nick Saban press conferences.
Having come from Mario "The Process" Cristobal who in my opinion talked a lot but said nothing, I hope Lanning will be more transparent.
Now...Nick Saban has been around a long time and "knows the drill" as I am certain the media do who cover him...Lanning is the new kid on the block so he will be developing his style.
There are 2 differences which stood out to me in watching both these head coaches following their team's first Fall practice scrimmage...
1) Saban's body language almost conveys boredom(which might be the case) while Lanning is seemingly in constant motion.
2) Saban FREELY uses player names(which I like) whether it is about success or failure; while Lanning goes out of his way to avoid doing so regardless.
What I have always found interesting is how head coaches can say basically the same thing BUT differently...and portions of what Saban and Lanning are saying is exactly that dynamic.
Perhaps because Saban does use names I feel as though I "know" more about Alabama than Oregon...but again, Nick has been doing this a long time and is obviously very confident in what he shares while Lanning is still learning.
Each press conference is around 10 minutes...
