Thoughts on the Utes and conference picture

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the Utes get the W last night. For various reasons I've found the team likable and can't say the Same about USC.

Some Ducks fans were already looking ahead and thinking USC running the table to face them in the title would have been best for our playoff chances. Personally I doubt it would matter and we're probably out anyway barring all the big name teams picking up at least 2 losses. The Ducks going undefeated isn't going to be easy anyway. A Pac title would be a major accomplishment this year, which is what I have my eyes set on.

USC might have one of the better QB's in the nation.

Despite USC's offensense their D is a weak point which a lot of folks pointed out. The Ducks offense could give the Ducks a good chance to win if we face them in the title.

If the Ducks can beat UCLA they're be in the driver's seat for getting to the title game. As I pointed out in my other post the Ducks are already considered the favorites.

Utah looks good, but I'm not sure their defense as good as last season. Perhaps I should look up the stats.

If Utah is still a really good team does this mean UCLA is that much better? From what's played out it's hard to say that they're not the best looking team besides the Ducks recently.

I've said it before, but I can't help think of what the buzz nationally on the Ducks would be if we had played a PSU type cup cake the first week.

Now that the season has started and the Pac competition has been so good and enjoyable to watch an invite to the B1G seems a lot less enjoyable now. It's really unfortunate the LA teams are leaving.

I'll leave my disjointed thought at that. Looking forward to Saturday. Go Ducks!!!

Re: Thoughts on the Utes and conference picture

Utah got a lot of help from the officials i.e. 12 penalties for USC to 5 for Utah.

Ditto on Alabama being flagged for 17 penalties to 6 for Tennessee.

It ridiculous to see such close games on the scoreboard yet one team is flagged for twice as many(USC) and triple(Alabama) the penalties as the HOME teams.

Otherwise I have always believed the Pac-12 is PERCEIVED to be better when USC is better. Nobody would think the B10 is having a good year if the luckeyes and Michigan are not doing well.

I believe for the Pac-12 to have a chance to get a team into the Playoffs the Conference Championship Game needs to have 2 teams ranked in the Top 10.

I am hoping USC and UCLA run the table(except when UCLA plays Oregon) so their rivalry game will mean something more than just bragging rights and the winner plays Oregon who runs the table too.
