2. Posts of political nature of post that would lead to such matters do not belong here, there's a whole internet for that.
3. Fans of different teams are allowed here as are difference of options, however trolling is not tolerated.
4. We have to abide by copyright laws, which means quoting an articles story and posting links works. On the contrary copy and pasting entire copyrighted stories is against the rules.

Wilner on UO vs uw...needs even more hype!

Hardly a Wilner column passes before my eyes in which I don't learn something new and / or he doesn't make me pause and think.

Basically, assuming USC and UCLA do leave...I don't think it is a given for UCLA...Wilner argues the UO vs uw rivalry will be #1 on the west coast and for that reason it needs a makeover of epic proportions.

Re: Wilner on UO vs uw...needs even more hype!

Problem is that Husky Fan is not on board.  They see this rivalry as one only Duck Fan is invested in.  I’ve trolled a couple of their boards for giggles and they legit have zero fire for this game outside of their burning hatred of the opposing fan base.

My “hate” for the Husky program dates to the Lambright era, when he basically came out in a presser stating that his team that had lost to UO that year, but with similar records was a more deserving program for a better bowl game because nobody cares about the UO program.  From that point on, I had that game definitely circled every year and make it must-see viewing.

I was in the stands for the 70pt blowout and was stunned Helf still had a job after that game.  Even Husky fans at that game were shrugging their shoulders instead of trash talking it was that bad a contest…

Sorry for rambling, coffee not yet kicking in…

Re: Wilner on UO vs uw...needs even more hype!

I don't think message boards are an accurate reflection of fan interest or investment in a team.

What % of fans comment on message boards? 1%? Lots of people may read online articles but a fraction comment on them.

I saw one online article on Lanning stating he isn't going to Auburn...over 1,000 views and 92 comments and a number of people commented multiple times so it is not like it was 92 different people.

If this game was in Seattle this Saturday I am sure it would be a sellout dominated by the color purple.

I think this game and rivalry itself has a very high level of mutual fan interest / intensity.

I would not be surprised if they pretend not to care because they usually lose.

Their prowess has even overshadowed their fan base! 😆🤣

Re: Wilner on UO vs uw...needs even more hype!

Fuskies fans used to talk so much trash a few years back when Chip was around. WD might be onto something in regards to why they've piped down a bit. Losing 15 of the last 17 leaves them no ground to stand on. The last few years they were too busy being upset with their coaching and whatnot. If they can win again we'll surely here from them again.

The game is prime time on Fox and people are talking about it. Moving forward I suppose a name would help. It would also help for the Fuskies to win won to call it a rivalry, but I assume they don't!

I'm really looking forward to tomorrow. After a busy week plus of working hard or playing hard on vacation just watching the game sounds delightful.

Well that Fusky win ain’t gonna be today!  I like the rivalry right where it is, with the Ducks dominating.
