If Ty starts..

what do folks think the odds are we win? He just has looked disengaged this year, and he sure hasn't had an oppportunity to run the offense; it's always garbage time, and he basically hands off or throws a screen. He'll have to do more than that against the Utes. Last year they loaded the box, and AB looked like a deer in the headlights.

Edit...oopppsss...thanx DR..I meant TY

Re: If Ty starts..

I am confused? I think you mean if Ty starts, right? Bo has hardly looked disengaged!

Otherwise, the entire backup QB situation at Oregon has been dysfunctional for a few years and Lanning has done nothing to change it.

What about the alleged best "pure passer" Butterfield?

Oregon doesn't need the QB to win the game...talent and experience exists at RB, WR and TE. All operating behind a very experienced OL.

What is needed are coaches who can figure out how to help any QB succeed.

Go look at Dennis Dixon's stats the season before Chip had him. Masoli was like 5'11" and hardly elite talent. Darron Thomas had a quirky throwing motion...still the only QB in Oregon history to lead the team to an undefeated regular season.

Speaking of DT...remember when Costa got hurt? Oregon basically had no backup QB after Thomas. So what did Chip do? Stopped Thomas from running the ball himself and made sure the ball was out of his hands ASAP.

I don't know what it is but some type of disease has found a home at Oregon where recruited QB's are unable to be developed and coached to succeed...recruit after recruit; season after season.

Even Herbert who was a 3* local kid and basically fell into Oregon's lap...played for 3 different HC's and he made them look better not vice versa.

Re: If Ty starts..

Chances are slim and none.

If Bo doesn't start, I almost don't want to watch......but I will, of course.

Re: If Ty starts..

I wonder what the deal is with Tye? Overrated? Slow to warm up and settle in? Just not ready? Nothing solid seems to have leaked out about this.

A common comment is he looks like a zombie. Makes me wonder if he suffers from extreme anxiety.

It’s one thing to be just OK when a backup comes in, but we just seem to fall apart.

Re: If Ty starts..

The offense just comes to a screeching halt everytime Ty has been in. I saw someone said he hasn't gotten a sing first down this year, which seems hard to believe. The run game doesn't seem to work either of course opposing defenses can focus on stopping the run.

If he does start maybe getting real time to settle in will help him out. I'm trying to be optimistic.

I heard DL on 2 different radio interviews this week. Of course he wouldn't answer anything about Bo although he said it wasn't a pinky finger injury. He was just joking of course and said he doesn't want to give away any competitive advantage if regards to talking about injuries.

Even if Ty starts it's hard to imagine the offense looking worse against the Uthes compared to last year.
