Oregonian article:
I would agree. I have an aunt and uncle in the midwest that use to watch the Ducks when Mariota was playing. They said they're "Mariota" fans not Duck fans. I told them early in the season that the Ducks have a good team that's very hard working and of good character. My aunt and uncle have started watching again while excitedly texting family out west during games this year. ESPN/ABC showed a good number of games nationwide. As most of you know the Ducks OSU 2015 game was the highest rated ever in the 4 team playoff format. The Ducks being a contender again is good for college football, the Pac, and most importantly to the Ducks and fans like us!

I have a daughter and son-in-law living in another state. His parents and family live in the same state. All have been fans of another PAC team. His dad called me yesterday to tell me that they were all yelling and screaming for the Ducks all game long. All of them, but Herbert and Breeze in particular, have been great ambassadors for the university and the state of Oregon. I think they're now all fans for life.

And a force multiplier in being highly relevant in college football is the kids. University of Oregon football is big-time cool to them. How many young football players were noticing how cool Oregon's uniforms looked? Seems superficial, but young people can spot a winning program a mile away. And the recruiting pipeline is flowing in our direction right now!

The reaction to winning the Rose Bowl by Mario Cristobal, the hootin' and hollerin', the genuineness of his excitement was awsome. I don't doubt if a few blue chip high school sophomores and juniors saw that and made the decision at that moment too "choose Oregon over...".

It's true. Looking cool will appeal to some recruits . . . and Oregon definitely looked cool in the Rose Bowl.

I don't think I've ever seen a reaction from Cristobal like the one I saw when Oregon won. It was surprising and authetic.

Authentic is a great way to describe MC. The guy just seems so genuine and I believe the players, and their parents, admire that.
