Transfer Portal Thread

I'll get Phil to pin this, and then we won't have a new thread every time someone enters the portal. This can be transfers leaving and those coming in. Feel free to add players and we can talk about them here. So far it's just Cardwell and Thornton, but there will be more.

Re: Transfer Portal Thread

Great idea...how about the same thing for the OC search?

Re: Transfer Portal Thread

Nothing other than a tweet so far, but it appears Butterfield has entered the portal. Kid has his degree and three years of eligibility left.

and now a story..

Re: Transfer Portal Thread

Another Cristobal recruit who didn't get to play for either coach...I am not surprised by this news... probably more surprised if he didn't enter the Transfer Portal.

Re: Transfer Portal Thread

The Ducks made an offer to one of the best available WR’s in the portal.

Re: Transfer Portal Thread

Here is another link for Swinson not behind a paywall.

Perfect example of what I find so perplexing...guy has a "breakout year" last season with 3 sacks and 4 TFL. This year...averages a little above 10 SNAPS a game😲🤔 In other words barely gets on the field?

Nor is it like that position was so productive with those players getting the snaps.

Played 3 years at Oregon and a new coaching staff finds him essentially "unplayable." I just don't understand it.

I thought he was going to have a breakout season. He came up huge when he came in against the Buckeyes last year. It's odd like you say looking at who was playing that he wasn't in a lot.

The Ducks totally need a new DC

The offensive side of the ball seemed to develop better although a lot of the players that did well were new.

I think Lanning being a "defensive guy" has been overplayed and does not tell the complete story.

He came to Georgia in 2018 in Kirby Smart's third year. The year prior Georgia went 13-2. In other words they already had a very good team and a head coach with some experience.

During Lanning's 4-years, Georgia lost a total of 8 games.

This wasn't like Lanning helped build a great defense from the ground up. Remembering too that Kirby Smart was the DC at Alabama from 2008 to 2015 before coming to Georgia in 2016.

Think he had some input into Georgia's defense while Lanning was there???🤔

Oregon was not Georgia and Lanning overseeing Lupoi was clearly not a replica of Smart working with him.

Lanning needs A LOT of work as a HC on game management, offense and especially his "area of expertise"(?) on defense.

My opinion is for both DC and OC he needs veteran coaches...50-years and older(?) who have many more experiences than he does.

DL can be the hotshot young HC hire...that is already happened but please not for the coordinators... Dillingham was 5-years younger; Lupoi 5-years older.

Re: Transfer Portal Thread

You just never know... Notre Dame's starting QB is entering the Transfer Portal...I don't pay close attention to Notre Dame but when I read the article...this guy is very good. Has 3 years of eligibility remaining but unlikely for Oregon to be an option if Nix remains.

Weird and perplexing issues with the defense.

A lot of guys regressed this year. Did anyone excel, "arrive" or over-achieve??? I think NOT!

I am soooooooo disappointed with our defensive performance this year. It keeps me up at night.
