Not sure about anyone else, but I am rooting for Utah tonight big time.
I despise Lincoln Riley and the SUC program. I don't give a HOOT about a "pac12" team making the CFP.
For starters, SUC isn't really even a Pac12 team anymore!!!
Go Pac12, GO UTES!!

USC isn't a Pac team anymore anyways. I've never liked them and the Utes have always been a respectable team in my opinion.
USC really came out strong and Utah hung in there and the score before half really turned the momentum.
Go Utes!

Yep!!! Screw U$C!!!!

Ugh...Utah wins the Pac-12 Championship again.
After a 6-year absence I was hoping the Pac-12 could be represented in the Playoffs.
It hurts even more knowing Oregon should have been in that game instead of Utah.
Will Oregon and Choke Lanning even be in a bowl game now? Nothing like going from 8-1 to irrelevance but thank you notes can be sent to Choke Lanning who really ruined it for the entire Pac-12.
USC players and coaches including Lincoln Riley didn't vote to move to the Big Ten...so I find no reason to root against them in that context. I always hope USC is good because, like it or not, it raises the perception of the quality of the Pac-12.
USC had worse year last season at 4-8 than "mighty" Oregon and Lincoln Riley turned that program around in a BIG WAY and certainly more measurable than Choke Lanning did at Oregon...last year at least Oregon lost twice to the Pac-12 Champions unlike Choke Lanning who lost to the uw and osu this season.
Go Ducks in Pathetic Bowl

WOW!
The perception of the Pac12 means nothing! After next year, the "perception" of the Pac12 is irrelevant because we will ALWAYS be represented in the CFP and maybe even two teams. The games will be settled on the field. NOT by the "perception" of talking heads and all the stuffed shirts in the committee room.
This was the most enjoyable (non-duck) football game I've watched in years. Watching poor little Williams with his poor little limp cry on the bench was priceless!! And seeing the mercenary Riley choking the big game (like always) is just too delicious for words.
SUC has always viewed themselves as above everyone else in the conference. Even when they were doing NOTHING to help the "perception" of this conference for the last decade. USC is not a Pac12 team anymore as far as anyone is concerned. Hope they go 0-12 next year and then fail miserably in the Big10. I'm blown away you actually have some kind of loyalty to those schmucks.

That's enough of the Choke Lanning Bullshit, and FUCK U$C. AS has been said, U$C is no longer a PAC-12 team.

I REALLY hope Williams does not win the Heisman.
He showed a complete lack of class last night. Come to find out he had "FUCK UTAH" painted on his fingernails. He sat on the sideline after the game with a towel on his head crying and sulking. He didn't have the decency or manliness to shake hands with Rising or anyone for that matter.
A me-first, poor loser guy like that doesn't deserve the honor of winning the award.

I am not going to apologize for hoping a team in the Pac-12, in this case, USC, makes it to the Playoffs. At this point in the season, after the rivalry games, I am just hoping the Pac-12 has success.
Any school which has the tradition and history of success of USC is naturally going to believe they are better than everyone else. Not a problem for me. If Oregon had a similar history they would feel the same way. Lincoln Riley did a a pretty good job in his first year of restoring some of that winning arrogance and confidence at USC. Good for him. I don't begrudge him or the program for it. Kalen DeBoer did the same at the uw...not a team I like but he did a very good job. Acknowledging those successes has nothing to do with loyalty in my book.
What I watched last night and last week(Oregon vs osu) looked similar in a number of areas in terms of how the coaches handled the game and injured QB's. I stand by my definition of how Lanning did and would apply a similar context to Riley.
One issue you will NEVER hear me mock another school about is $$$ as in U$C because the Oregon Duck$ have Phil Knight and his $$$. I am beyond thankful for his support because I don't think the entire Oregon athletic program would even be close to where it is now without his involvement i.e. facilities, coaching hires and salaries and so on. Thus I don't mock those who have similar financial resources or those who don't and everyone in between. It is a "benefit" the overwhelming number of college athletic programs do not have going for them. So I stay appreciative AND quiet on that issue.
Likewise many of the derogatory words and phrases used to describe USC are similar to how many people define Oregon i.e. "They think they are so cool and better than everyone else with all their uniforms, Uncle Phil's money and..."
So I intentionally avoid a "the pot calling the kettle black" situation.

Ha! So in other words, a perfect representative for the trojans. I actually didn't watch the whole thing. Now I'm hoping for the Holiday Bowl.

SUC isn't a Pac12 team.
First sentence was as far as I could read.

Yeah.
Going from possible CFP to being relegated to Holiday or Sun would be sweet for the Condoms.
Only problem is it's possible UW could be selected for a New Years 6 game. That would put SUC back in Alamo or Holiday.

no Roses for UW. all good.
you win as a team and you lose as a team. if Lanning is not your cup of tea, then don't renew your season tics at Autzen next year. you can tell Rob Mullens why in the email that was sent out this week (twice, bad link in first). I'm sure somebody else will snap 'em up.
what was on display last night was the value of continuity. Utes and Whittingham have always built around recruiting, redshirting, & developing players. it showed in their experience and cohesion under the big spotlight. same kind of experience & continuity that Ducks had in the O-line this season, the best position group on the team. or Oregon State, who fielded a bunch of fifth- & sixth-year players on D and won nine games w/o a functioning QB.
Oregon has chosen to go a different direction ever since the firing of Helfrich and the entire legacy staff. and so we get a revolving door of head coaches, assistant coaches, and players. big hoop-de-doo in the media & on the fanboards when the next phenom signs a LOI or transfers in; and then they enter the portal after spring practice or the end of the season. and so spins the carousel.
that decision was made long ago, and way above the position of HC or even AD. like the group of former UO players who wrote that letter when Mario's vacancy was being filled, I don't care for it either. you don't win big games in Nov and Dec with 21 transfers and rent-a-staff, no matter how good they are. here's hoping Mullens uses whatever influence he has to set a less volatile course for the program over these next few years.

Good read.
I too sometimes worry about the revolving coaching staffs. But I think I'd rather shoot for the stars and hopefully find the right fit/combination for a Natty or two in my lifetime. I find having some instability but getting to mountaintop every once in a while, preferable to having consistency and repeatedly having 8-4 seasons.
Who knows? Hopefully we can find our forever coach someday. Maybe it's Lanning? I really do think the expanded playoffs can only help in this regard. If you can consistently make the CFP with Oregon and the Pac12, maybe the grass won't seem so green elsewhere.

I guess prevailing opinion is SUC to Cotton Bowl.

Which is GREAT for Oregon and the Pac-12 because the Cotton Bowl is a New Years Six game and if it is not USC it won't be another Pac_12 team and no $4 million payout to the entire Conference.
It never occurred to me there are Oregon fans with such disdain for USC that even if a scenario is worse for Oregon and the Pac-12 in general, it is all good so long as USC gets kicked to the curb.🙄
