Re: Transfer Portal Thread

Wilner shares his thoughts with a reminder of 3 rules which tend to get overlooked in all the hysteria....from his column

Three key points as you watch the mayhem unfold:

— Athletes who enter the portal have the option to return to their original team, so long as a roster spot remains available.

— NCAA rules allow undergraduates one free transfer. Any player who changed teams during the 2021-22 offseason faces the prospect of sitting out a year if he decides to move a second time.

— The portal is open until Jan. 18, then closes until May. Players don't have to commit to a team during those windows; they simply must register their name in the portal.

Re: Transfer Portal Thread

Anyone see the jab at Mike Leach?

As an aside, they must be providing players a template for transfer portal announcements. Reminds me of Clippy from back in the day (“I see you’re entering the transfer portal.”).

Re: Transfer Portal Thread

12 former Ducks in the portal and he is the first one to commit to another program....reuniting with his former position coach at Oregon and now head coach at Nevada.

I am always curious with this type of situation where a guy plays the first-half of the season; averages a few tackles per game and then disappears as in rarely playing? It is not like our defense was lights out...so suddenly he can no longer contribute? Did HIS attitude and / practice performance go down?

But then again for the defense, I haven't been able to figure out Oregon's identity the whole season. Do they have one...anyone know?

Re: Transfer Portal Thread

Dollars to Nevada. It appears Ken Wilson was well liked by players while he coached at Oregon.
