Canzano just put up his broadcast with Coach Cristobal, part of which focused on the OC hire. Fairly vague but it does give a little perspective on timelines, the process, etc.

Can someone listen and write a summary: I never could stand listening to JC.

I hear you. I pretty much only listen to JC when I'm driving and 1080 and 620 are on commercial. I enjoy listening to Nemec on his recruiting show. He does a good job interviewing recruits and relating to them.

Re: New OC search

Jedd Fisch as OC?  Will Hall as OC?  I had to go look both of them up.  Neither one is an powerhouse, but there is potential.

Fisch has experience coaching on both sides of the ball (defensive early in his coaching career), but he hasn't stayed anywhere very long.

Hall looks like a possibility, but a .375 in-conference record for 2019 isn't something to hang your hat on.  However, Tulane was gutsy enough to schedule a game against Auburn.  Ironically, it was the game immediately following Oregon's game.

I'm glad Cristobal is taking his time to make a decision and select something that will fit well in his program.

I would be excited about Fisch. He seems to have a very innovative mind. I too am glad MC is taking his time. Whoever it is will fit this staff just fine, I am sure.

Joe Moorhead is rumored to be among the candidates for Oregon's OC job.  Washington too.
He was offensive coordinator for Penn State in 2016 and 2017.  Penn State's offense when from 348.4 yards per game in 2015 to 432.6 yards per game under Moorhead in the first year.In 2017, Moorhead was named the No. 1 rising assistant in college football by Sports Illustrated and Yahoo (although that would have made him 44 years old . . . isn't that kind of old to be name '#1 rising assistant in college football?) .Left Penn State to become HC at Mississippi State and was fired four days ago after going 8-5 (2018) and 6-7 (2019) and losing to Louisville 38-28 loss in the Music City Bowl.

Yeah, I don't know much about him. Thanx for the link, Pete.

I'm kinda liking the NFL background that Fisch has. As well as time put in with other P5 schools.

Re: New OC search

This morning, Adam Rittenberg tweeted:

A new name in #Oregon’s offensive coordinator search, per source: #LSU offensive analyst Jorge Munoz. He’s a former offensive coordinator at Louisiana-Lafayette and also coached receivers and quarterbacks with ULL. Helped with Joe Burrow’s development at LSU.

I hadn't heard of him so I googled him, came up with this.

https://www.theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/sports/lsu/article_94520230-076e-11e8-84b5-9f4f58d0e52a.html

He's been a college QB, receiver's coach, quarterback's coach, offensive coordinator (at Eastern Illinois) and now works at LSU under Orgeron as an analyst. He's originally a West Coast guy (San Diego native) but has been away for awhile.

It's clear MC isn't just going after the best-known names. That's a little more risky with a high reward ceiling but unproven resume. But I suspect he knows what he's after and I also suspect that these guys are fairly well-known within their circles. I just thought the direction was interesting...whether or not this guy gets the job.

One other interesting tidbit. I learned that LSU has 9 analysts on staff - 5 on the offensive side. Does anyone know how many analysts Oregon has? I can definitely see an advantage in having multiple input.

UPDATE: Ross Dellegner from SI had this to say about Jorge. "Those around LSU rave about Jorge Munoz's role this year with Burrow."

And a service for college football coach recruiting, FootballScoop, simply wrote "Jorge is a stud."

Looks like he has a pretty good reputation.
Certainly a new one to me, but I'll read the link. Sounds like a good choice if he was a part of Burrows developement. I would think a decision is close.

Also, rumors mention Notre Dame and the NY Giants are also interested in Moorehead.

Re: New OC search

For any who are following this as closely as I am, one source claims that Oregon is 24-48 hours away from hiring it's new OC. It claims the likely candidates are Will Hall, Joe Moorhead, Jedd Fisch and Jorge Munoz, who is said to have made a "strong impression". This article also provides some good info on each of the candidates.

https://footballscoop.com/news/an-update-on-oregons-offensive-coordinator-search/

Everything I've read about Moorhead indicates that if Oregon could land him, he would be amazing. The others appear to be highly qualified as well. It seems this is the "short list" as Cristobal called it. But whoever it is, we're likely to know soon.

I tried to post a link earlier about Munoz. I agree, I think it will be soon, tho if it's him, not till after the NCG.

Is it just me, or does it sound like Moorhead lost control of his program?
