I knew Deon was picking up some good portal players and making some flips. I didn't know just how many and how high of talent the team is taking on. The Buffs might just have the best CB's in the county and they have the number 1 transfer class.
Just how good can the Buffs be? When Deon came in I presumed he would upgrade the talent, however I figured it wouldn't be a 1 year overhaul like USC did last year. Looking at who they brought in this might just be the case.
Moving forward will the Buffs now be a team you talk about winning the Pac. Perhaps a replacement for USC? Maybe? I honestly don't know how good of a coach Deon is.
As the B1G gets bigger with the LA schools the initial concern is that big time players might not want to come to the Pac anymore. DL just finished with a top 10 class and a team nobody would have thought would be flipping top recruits and doing top work in the portal just did that in the Buffs.
If the Ducks can still recruit well is there a real need to join the B1G or jump elsewhere? We'll probably get a much better picture of things whenever the media deal gets completed. As that SEC writer mentioned the numbers could be favorable for the near future with a streaming service overpaying in the short term. Even if the money is only good for a while it seems like it would make sense for the Ducks just to stick around in the short term and not make all the teams travel across the county when you can still stay viable in the Pac.

Deion has certainly overhauled the roster, but I'm not sure the Buffs will contend this year. He's picked up a lot of skill position players, but I'm not sure he's done much for the dudes in the trenches. They'll be much better, tho. Should be an interesting season.
I do think the impact of the LA schools leaving is already being felt: I think Dante Moore is an example. I have no idea what is best for Oregon right now, but I do feel they shouldn't get locked in to anything long term.

With playoff expansion, the need to change conferences is greatly reduced, which I'm ecstatic about. I really want to stay in the Pac12 and I hope somehow to thrive in the new environment. Wishful thinking? Maybe. I still think SUC and UCLA made horrible mistakes leaving the conference and will come to regret it. We shall see and it will be interesting to watch.
As far as Colorado? Deon has brought in talent and buzz to the program. Is he a good coach? I don't know but the jury is out on that question. Personally, I'm no fan of "Prime Time" and hope he fails miserably.
They will suprise some teams this year, but no, I don't think they are contenders.

1) With the combination of the Transfer Portal, recruiting and NIL, almost anything is possible. Ironically Sanders has A LOT to sell to transfers and recruits after Colorado's disaster season i.e. probably every position is open, lots of playing time available, good opportunities to start... nothing really to lose per se.
Sanders was a GREAT hire for Colorado and the Pac-12 as he will draw national eyeballs. Plus he is going to put a lot of pressure on the other Pac-12 head coaches especially if he is successful.
2) After the way Dillingham left Oregon...I am hoping he loses every game at ASU and is fired after 1-year. When people make sleaze ball choices(Taggart, Cristobal and now Dillingham)...I never hope they succeed. Dillingham didn't even travel back to Eugene with the team after the osu game 🤮
3) Moving to the Little Ten would be terrible on many levels. I don't want our nearest opponents(outside of USC and UCLA) to be 2 time zones away; I don't care about Rutgers, Purdue, Maryland, Indiana, Northwestern...anyone who doesn't think the Little Ten will stick it to Oregon in football scheduling is living in a fantasy land. Hey how come we keep getting sent to cold weather games in November?
USC and UCLA were not added to "replace" the luckeyes, Michigan, Penn State...they were added as window dressing. Look what happened to Nebraska? The Little Ten is NOT Oregon's culture.
Playoff expansion gives Oregon the best opportunity to make it because they can win the Pac-(whatever number).

Sanders may be a great hire. He may not be.
I'll say again, I hope he fails miserably. And for one who has dealt with Colorado "fans" on a personal level, I wish them nothing but the absolute worst.
It's been so enjoyable to watch them suck ever since they've joined the Pac12. I don't want that to change.
0-12 would be right up there with Fuskies for me!
