I have probably read half-a-dozen articles and all are saying the same thing in various forms...the Pac-12 needs to expand before they can secure a media rights deal...at least that seems to be the message from those on the media rights side are telling Kliavkoff.
It appears San Diego State and SMU are strong candidates.
As per this article...I am okay with Fresno State(another California school will help recruits "stay home") and Tulane... maybe UNLV...all 3 of those have played decent basketball...but NO to Boise State...no other sport except football; NOBODY recruits Idaho so we don't need another Pacific Northwest poacher in the Conference (joining the UO, WSU, uw and osu) vying for California recruits and that awful blue field🤮 in football.

Yes:Â SDSU, UNLV, FSU
Maybe:Â SMU
No:Â BSU, TU
Agree that BSU is simply a leech. Tulane is just not as attractive as SMU would be in terms of history and market size. Totally good with the two CA schools and UNLV for the simple reasons of geography and TV markets to leverage the final deal...

It's all so underwhelming.
The conference is in panic/desperation mode. Our days as a P5 conference may be numbered.
We missed the boat so badly years ago when we didn't poach Texas and Oklahoma and missed it again when we didn't poach the Big12 as it was imploding. Not to mention getting scammed by the ridiculous "alliance".
Failed leadership and vision will be our epitaph.
