Holden dismissed from the team

Facing several charges related to menacing with a firearm. Sad, but Ducks haven't had this problem for some time, since Helfs last season...

Re: Holden dismissed from the team

I somehow missed this, but . . . New Mexico State University just shut down its entire men's basketball program for persistent bad behavior. wow.

Re: Holden dismissed from the team

Happy that Lanning acted quickly on this.

Next man up.

Re: Holden dismissed from the team

That's one spot open for either a player to step it up and fill in Spring Ball or to be filled when the next window opens after the Spring Game...  Kudos to Lanning for taking immediate action on this, zero tolerance policy...

Re: Holden dismissed from the team

Holden has been released, and it's unclear at this time, but it sounds like all charges have been dismissed. Not sure what is going on.

Re: Holden dismissed from the team

Holden has been reinstated to the team following new details from EPD.

Re: Holden dismissed from the team

I wondered if something was up when the Lane County DA decided not to prosecute him.

Turns out after they(the DA) reviewed body cam footage and interviewed other people...there were contradictions to the initial accounts told to and then by the EPD the night of the incident.

Lucky for him for the body cam footage 🙏

Re: Holden dismissed from the team

I was wondering if Holden was going to move on even if he was reinstated.

If you got booted from your team ASAP before any evidence or charges are made you may not be too happy about the matter.

I've only skimmed an article about this matter and think it's best not to weigh judgment on the matter of what actually happened and if Holden is still at fault on some level since I haven't seen all the evidence. Of course you don't want a team to sweep conduct issues under the rug and not take action quickly. At the same time this situation proves it may not be best to rush to judgment so quick before the details emerge.

Re: Holden dismissed from the team

Seems fair and just.

I applaud Lanning for rescinding the dismissal. I guess acting quickly sometimes isn't the best choice. Another learning experience for a young coach.

Re: Holden dismissed from the team

if any of yous strangers is new to these here rainy parts . . . Stephen Houze has been THE criminal defense attorney in Portland for four decades, involved in many famous cases, including Zach Randolph (alleged sexual assault) and Damon Stoudamire (LO PD responded to burglar alarm and found his weed stash in plain sight).
assuming from the website that Jacob is his son. somebody called in the heavy artillery here.

we're living in NIL world. contracts have been signed regarding young Mr. Holden. to be dismissed from the team is tortious interference with contractual relations and intentional economic harm to business relations with a third party.
we will see this little drama playing out over and over across the country now, as college football players repeatedly become acquainted with the local constabulary.
