Didn't have a good connection with the new coaching staff. It happens with change but he was the first Duck to lead the team in rushing and receptions in like 30-years...wish he could have finished his career at Oregon. Hope he makes it in the NFL🙏
Note: You might hit a paywall clicking the link...I read it posted on Google News and also OLive's "Duck FB" app. I am not tekkie enough to know why it is a paywall trying to read it on OLive but not so on THEIR Ducks FB app?!

I did encounter a paywall with that link, but somehow I got in thru the back door, I guess..hoping this link works. All I will say is he transfered to the Evil Empire and called it the best team he had ever played on..didn't sit well with me.

I am glad that Travis moved on. it was time to crop the top-growth and let the newer and younger guys get some sunlight. Bucky, Noah, Jordan. and remember that Cardwell was supposed to be The Man this year in the backfield before his injuries.
I don't see Travis as an NFL player. he had a good college career, most of it at Oregon.

I admit I was a little bit happy on the inside when he left also.
Don't get me wrong he was a fantastic football player, had a ton of toughness and was a great Duck. But he was SLOW!! I got real tired of him being caught from behind after 25 yards or so. I was really eager to see our new burners with much better break-away speed and explosiveness. I have not been disappointed!
Best of luck to Travis.

What I appreciated most about Dye was his ability to score the ball. His 18 TD's(16 Rushing / 2 Receiving) his final year as a Duck, accounted for almost 1/3 of Oregon's TD total for the season.
His 16 Rushing TD's were second most in the Pac-12(Borgi of WSU had 21) and were more than any Oregon player this past season.
Going back in time, Royce Freeman had 16 rushing TD's his senior year(2017) on about 30 more attempts than Dye and 17 rushing TD's his sophomore year(2015) on about 70 more attempts than Dye.
No small accomplishment for Dye given Cristobal's 1950's smash mouth approach to offense.
He ended up 5th all-time on Oregon's Rushing list(Verdell is 6th) which included the Covid year.

I blame Cristobal and Feld 1000% for that with their physicality approach to football(Cristobal) and the training program (Feld) that went with it.
Players took a pounding under Cristobal which will slow anyone down and especially RB's...It seemed "everyone" was always injured under Cristobal while that was not the case this past season.
There was NOTHING in Cristobal's approach to offense which was "explosive."
Granted it is over 3,000 miles away but it was telling in my opinion that not a single offensive player who played a scoring position...QB, RB, WR and TE...immediately followed MC to Miami...20-year veteran😂 Cam McCormick did this season.

Dye was a conundrum.
He's one of Oregon's all-time greats. But there was not ONE time this past season where I thought to myself: "Man, I wish we had Travis Dye right now!" I mean..... not even one second!! I don't think if one is honest with themselves, they can disagree with that observation.
What does that ultimately say about Mr. Dye??
Not an indictment... it's just weird.

The team rushing stats for 2022 and 2021 are almost identical in carries, yards and TD's(34 in 2022 to 36 in 2021) with 1 caveat...14 games in 2021 to 13 games in 2022... the difference being in 2021 the Ducks played in the Pac-12 Championship Game.
The difference maker was the passing game with around 700 more yards in 2022 and 30 TD's vs 20 TD's in 2021.
So did the 2022 passing game open up the run game?
Irving and Whittington each rushed for 5 TD's(Dye had 16)...Nix had 14(AB had 9 in 2021) so different red zone philosophies 2022 vs 2021.
Dye's stats were no doubt helped by Verdell's season ending with an injury in the Stanford game...but that also meant his workload increased as "the guy" whereas Irving and Whittington were able switch back and forth.
Remember too Dye was the leader in receptions his last year at Oregon. He ranked #29 in the Pac-12 in receiving; Irving and Whittington were not in the top 50 in receiving.
So there was neither a major improvement OR decline in the Oregon rushing game from 2021 to 2022 which may explain why the absence of Dye, Cardwell or Verdell wasn't significant.
Dye was having a good season at USC until he got injured...over 800 rushing yards / 9 TD's / 21 receptions for over 200 yards.
Pure speculation but I believe if Dye had the opportunity to play with Nix...the versatility of both...Dye as a runner and receiver; Nix as a runner and passer...in the game at the same time...would have been a VERY EXPLOSIVE tandem...maybe as good as any in the nation.
