I&A is not the same w/o the comments, and KG's interaction.

I'm gonna guess that he probably misses the interaction as well.

I think you're right. He seemed bummed the comments were going away.

But, we will carry on regardless of what the Oregonian decides. Goe is only an email away . . . kgoe@oregonian.com

Going without the comments, from strictly a business viewpoint the number of page views for Canzano, Crepea and Goe story's are probably down across the board, never mind the News story's. Many people commented on the original OL story that detailed the shutoff plan that they only read the articles for the comments at the end.
I think the Oregonian made a mistake in terminating their popular message service. We'll see if they reverse their decision later when it becomes apparent that it backfired on them. We can only hope.

I used to check out comments 4 or 5 times a day. Now I check out articles if a link is posted here. I enjoy the connection and relation to other Duck fans. The articles are ok but got a lot more out of the comments from you guys.

Same. I only checked once or twice, but I've always enjoyed the comments more than the articles. And I've turned back on my SPAM blocker. I had to disable it on the O to read the comments or to comment. They really messed up and I'm good with it.
Best of all? We don't have to put up with the trolls.

I am okay with the comment section going away largely because I do not view it as end to "comments" but rather an end to promoting personal agendas which often had nothing to do with the subject matter of the article itself. All it took as we well know, was one or two people blowing up the comment section with BS...so what kind of comment section is it really?
Obviously it was my choice to read / react to comments but I am now finding much more free time now that it is gone. Remember, it was not just for sports comments but ALL comments and I do not expect a return until after the presidential election unless they only allow comments in specific sections.
It is easy to say "do this do that" but I think at least with sports articles, OLive could have done better to keep people in their respective lanes. Meaning, people like Orange Army were RARELY commenting on the content in an article but rather just to push their own agendas. I grew weary of scrolling through all the nonsense to find comments reflecting the articles themselves.
This is a much more enjoyable platform.

MC is preaching the real deal. Gotta say that it probably helps with the parents that the program has little to no shade that can be cast against it, like a Meyer program would anymore. Players keeping their noses clean and graduating while excelling on the field set the bar higher for future recruits and their families who realize the gift of a “free” education...
I&A was a good point to jump into certain discussions with KG tossing out a topic. Always loved the opportunity to whine about the live vs tv experience of the game today.
The comment section shutting down IMO was a mistake. But it’s their call and their ad revenue. In hindsight I am more productive anymore during office days 😎...

Like others here, my time at OLive has dropped off dramatically since comments were cut.
I miss the banter with Goe; however, I like I can initiate a topic here. On some days when Goe was writing about things other than the Oregon Ducks, I found myself wanting to start a new discussion.

Even though I didn't always agree with Mr.Goe, I certainly enjoyed reading his articles and simply loved all the links he provided. I still check out O-Live every day to see what Ken and the other beat writer have to say.
