FYI: The site has been having some troubles. We probably exceeded our typical bandwidth.
Well, that's all folks. It was fun while it lasted.
With AZ out it's done.
It stinks.
Naturally Ducks have different options about what we should do. I don't mean to be over the top with my opinion. It's an emotional time for fans. Nobodies opinion and wanting to stay local or join elsewhere is a wrong opinion, but a personal preference.
Despite all the turmoil I have old friends in town and probably won't be posting much this weekend. Have a good weekend everyone. Hopefully our site holds up with access.

It's a crazy time in college sports for sure. Have a great time with friends, Phil

an interesting comment from Canzano...the rest of his column is behind a paywall for me.."The dramatic twist came when University of Oregon president John Karl Scholz informed the "conference that his school was having second thoughts and intended to accept an invitation to join the Big Ten. Washington president Ana Mari Cauce did the same. Two bitter Pacific Northwest rivals banded together in a surreal ‘going and going’ moment which left the Pac-12 essentially gone. A second meeting of the Pac-12 CEO Group is scheduled for later on Friday. One involved source told me: “We need to come up something very quickly.” Regardless, it appears the Ducks and Huskies have their minds made up and bags packed for the Big Ten."

So now that Oregon is headed to the B1G, Utah and ASU have applied to the Big 12, so the PAC is officially dead...

just got my e from Pres Scholz . . .
heavy emphasis on the academics, with a pledge to help out Beavis as best we can. and he's excited about the future ahead, which is better than being excited about the future behind.
Dear University of Oregon community,
I am pleased to share that the University of Oregon will join the Big Ten Conference in August of 2024. I am thrilled we have the opportunity to join the nation's preeminent academic-athletic conference. Our student-athletes will participate at the highest level of collegiate athletic competition, and our alumni, friends, and fans will be able to carry the spirit of Oregon across the country. The connections we will make with some of the leading public research institutions in the world will lead to new opportunities for our students, staff, faculty, and university stakeholders through the Big Ten Academic Alliance and other venues. We look forward to a long, robust partnership. We seized this opportunity considering many factors, including the reach and visibility afforded the University of Oregon by joining a nationwide conference that includes more of the country’s leading public research institutions. We also know the Big Ten shares our commitment to prioritizing student-athletes’ well-being and academic demands. In coming years, the UO will prioritize the long-held traditions of competition across all sports with Oregon State University. I want to thank our University of Oregon community and our passionate Duck fans for their unmatched love and devotion to the UO. We are excited for the future ahead.
Sincerely, and Go Ducks!

been too busy w work, but reportedly the SC message boards and fan-sites are erupting with OJ-level rage. thought they had their 'Oregon problem' solved, but I guess not. a Left Coast pod in the newly reconstituted B1G should provide the Ducks with a game in LA almost every year. gotta keep that Webfooted recruiting footprint.
don't even need to guess what's going with Beavis. fifty years of conference welfare checks, gone is less than a week.

Looks like Udub will keep the Apple Cup, so at least those rivalries will remain, at least for now.

@ORG
so many variables yet TBD. are more teams joining? will Tree or Cal be part of the new B1G? 9-game or 8-game conf schedule? relax or extend the conf restriction on scheduling FCS teams?
we'll find out eventually how a UO-osu football games fits the bigger picture.
the 'rivalry' with OS has not been a big deal to me for a long time, probably because it's been so lopsided since Rich Brooks established Total Duck Dominance 40+ years ago. only once in almost 100 years was CW winner-take-all for the Roses.
it's been the games v UW, SC, and Tree that have mattered the most, and played for the highest stakes. overjoyed to see that continuing, with or without Tree, who aren't the power they once were.

Dear Mr. Scholz,
I had a bad feeling when we hired you. The last thing Oregon needed when we were negotiating a new media rights deal and the Pac12 needed the best minds and West Coast passions and loyalties to save and invigorate our conference, was a fucking BIG10 cheese-head from Wisconsin.
Thanks for guiding us into your Midwest nightmare.
Sincerely, PAC12 fan.
Oh, and p.s.
FUCK OFF!!

That letter clearly needs to be address-copied to Mr.'s Scott, Kliavkoff and Schill. Undoubtedly all sitting together at the club having a bloody steak and a fine cigar.
