I realize it was Portland State, but the discipline on the O line was great to see: no false starts. Usually the first game is a little sloppy, but Ducks looked sharp from the beginning. Obviously our offense will be good..in fact, I thought the play calling was better than Dillys. The D took a quarter to settle down, and there still wasn't enough push from the D line, tackling was good, and allowing only 7 points is hard to do when you're giving them so many chances.
As for upcoming games, TT losing like they did to Wyoming will give them motivation, but I think we win handily. Good chance the Buffs are undefeated when they come to Autzen, which should be sold out and rocking. GO DUCKS!!!!!

Overall I don't think these types of games show / prove much of anything beyond pummeling an opponent you should pummel and the usual "lots of players got game experience" and "we got to hit somebody besides a teammate" etc.
Otherwise as an indicator of future performances, not much.
My only dislike is keeping Nix in the game AND passing the ball with a no comeback possible lead...Oregon's last possession of the first half began with 4:32 remaining and a 43-7 lead and Nix throwing 4 consecutive passes before 3 runs led to a 50-7 halftime score.
Then Oregon takes the opening possession of the second half with Nix STILL in the game AND passing...3 consecutive plays and a 57-7 score. I lost interest at that point and watched other games.
Looking at the Box Score...
+Great to see Nix with ZERO rushing attempts as that will help keep him healthy.
+No turnovers
+Only 2 penalties
Otherwise my 2 highlights of other games are...
+Pac-12 is undefeated with only OSU needing a win today to make a perfect start for the Conference.
+What Colorado did is one of the greatest turnarounds ever...I watched most of that game.
A team which went 1-11 last year; has 86 new players; the QB set a school record for passing; their two-way player Hunter played 129 plays; caught 11 passes on offense and had a pass deflection and INT on defense...this guy could be a Heisman contender...and they did this on the home field of a team who 9 months ago played in the National Championship Game! Incredible.
This is a team with A LOT of confidence.
