Re: Ducks Wire 3 keys to victory

last week's carnival in Autzen was fun, but I am more than ready for some real football. I expect the Ducks are, too.

Brandon & Popo
Shough is older & wiser, but his tendency in Eugene was to lock onto one receiver, and then pull the ball down and run. he carried 15 times last week v Wyo, more than any TB. get that EUG push up the middle, take away his downfield vision, and make him peck away at the sidelines. he will complete some balls and scramble for some first downs, but TT-RR won't outscore Oregon.

Bucky
he's turning into a reliable receiver out of the backfield--saved our bacon on 4th down trailing by 12 in Pullman last year. should have plenty of opportunities when TT blitzes. Bo will recognize. if we consistently complete those midrange throws like last week (YES!), safeties and corners will have to respect & play deeper. get 0 the ball w a head of steam and watch him go.

Offensive Efficiency
yeah, it was only Portland State, but there was one worthwhile nugget in all the chaff of coachspeak from TT: this is a mature UO team, with juniors, seniors, and fifth- and sixth-year players. I expect clean, crisp, penalty- and mistake-free football, even on the road in a hostile environment. and finish with TDs in the red zone.

The Other Wideouts
Troy Franklin is still the best player on the team, and I'll miss him next season when he's in the NFL. he will get his catches and a coupla TDs, and draw attention from the secondary. the opportunity is there today for some of the other guys in this talented & deep WR corps. who's hungry for some balls?

don't want to jinx anybody, but this seems like a mismatch, in talent, experience, and at QB. if it finishes something like UO 51, TT-RR 24, I won't be Shough-ed.
