Deion Sanders...it's personal

I imagine the "it's personal" theme is going to be used all season against every opponent in some form or fashion.

This clip was right before the Nebraska game whose head coach made some less than supportive comments on how Sanders reconfigured Colorado's roster....which no Duck fan should be critical of because Lanning has done a significant amount of house cleaning too.

While Lanning's what now feels a little like an ill advised comment was about Colorado's lack of success in the Pac-12 and was not directed at Sanders per se...Deion is going to make it that way!

Regardless...the game will draw national eyeballs...8.76 viewers for Alabama vs Texas v 8.73 viewers for Colorado vs Nebraska. The top 2 watched games. #3?  Mario- ball vs Texas A&M at 4.02 million...significant drop off.

Ducks of course need to beat Hawaii and CU the same over CSU.

Re: Deion Sanders...it's personal

Deion will absolutely use any "slight" for motivation, and he'll make something up if there isn't anything there; it's how he rolls. The Buffs do look good, and Shadeur is the real deal. His other kid leads the team in tackling, something Deion never did

Re: Deion Sanders...it's personal

After watching Deion's "it's person" references for every opponent I was thinking the same thing. DL made Oregon's game an easy one.

This certainly isn't a new strategy. I've heard of coaches making up fake news stories before games and telling the team how bad someone said they were or something like that. Much of the coaching aspect is getting maximum effort out of your players. Deion can certainly do that. Of course the effort doesn't just come from the "it's personal" jabs.

I'm wondering how he's going to keep it up with teams like Stanford? What is he going to say? Maybe he does have something.

As a NFL fan back in the day Deion was too cocky for me. Now, I respect his talent and personality that can lead to being successful in football.

Barring some disaster by the Ducks or CO this game should be the biggest of the week and perhaps even year? Looking forward to it.

Re: Deion Sanders...it's personal

For Stanford it will probably be something like, "This is the only team people gave us a chance to beat before the season began."

What Sanders does exceptionally well is keep the focus entirely on himself...while some see that as a massive ego...I see it as brilliant leadership...it keeps the coaching staff and players including his son from being targets and under the microscope.

He is THE target...and he is fine with it. He has a LONG history of being in the spotlight so it is nothing new to him.

People aren't waiting for the team to lose...they are waiting for Deion to lose / fail.

Very few head coaches in my opinion could pull off the hype which Deion helps fuel...and be successful.

He knows EXACTLY what he is doing...it is not these random acts with no purpose.

Otherwise the Colorado player I continue to be amazed about is Travis Hunter who plays both ways and has been on the field for over 100 plays both games.

Re: Deion Sanders...it's personal

I suppose it’s good for Colorado, but I’m not a fan of bringing all the pro ball attitude and bling to college football.  We’ll see how it all works out when he meets “real” competition. The press will likely turn real fast.
