Back in the day(Big 12), Colorado v Nebraska was a "border rivalry" akin to Oregon v Washington and of course Colorado State v Colorado is an in-state rivalry...can you imagine Oregon playing the UW and OSU in back to back weekends in the first few weeks of the season? So the hype and and intensity was understandable of those two games.
