Bring on the Prime hype train!πŸ™

Deion Sanders(Thank you University of Colorado for hiring him) is the greatest promotional energy for the ENTIRE Pac-12 since Chip Kelly's "no huddle offense" at Oregon! Seriously.

Yet in comment sections on articles, Pac-12 fans from every team are whining and "sick" of all the hype around Prime?!?

These are the same fan bases who have complained about the Pac-12 not getting national respect, etc.

The game this Saturday will have millions of viewers from all over the country...perhaps being the most watched college game in the nation(good for recruiting?)...it is going to DOMINATE broadcast and written media the ENTIRE week regarding college football.

The University of Colorado with ONE hire has done more to bring the spotlight to Pac-12 football than Larry Scott, George Kliavkoff and the administrators at all 12 schools could do combined in the last 10-15 years.

Prime has, at least for the moment, silenced the incessant "the SEC is the best" chatter and even Paul Finebaum has to talk about him.

Yeah maybe you don't like his style but what about the RESULTS?!?πŸ€”

Go Ducks!

Re: Bring on the Prime hype train!πŸ™

I knew Prime was going to bring a lot of hype and attention to the pick. This much though?

Last Thursday morning listening to national radio 1 station had a live interview and the other station I turned to had Kordell Stewart on being interviewed about Prime. I had an errand later in the afternoon and what do you know the first station I turned to was talking about Colorado.Β

His swagger is always going to rub some people the wrong way as I've felt that the same way about him when he played.

To his credit he said he's really focusing the team on their academics. He said the Colorado's gpa is currently the best it has ever been in team history. As he mentioned most players aren't going on to the next level and their education is important.

He had some other interesting story lines as he's talked to one of his players dad's who's in prison and this player is from a bad area and trying to keep the rest of his family on the up and up.Β

Next week will be fun.Β

Go Ducks!

Re: Bring on the Prime hype train!πŸ™

Buffs started a true frosh at center for his first game yesterday. he'll line up next week across from Brandon, Popo, and Taki. CU managed 70 yards rushing last night in 25 carries v a Mountain West opponent that went 3-9 last year.

A frosh QB making his first start for CSU threw for almost 400 yards v the Buffs's secondary, despite three interceptions. thinking that Bo, his receivers, and our pass-block oriented O-line could dial up 60 points if Lanning so desires.

the Kardashian Stagecoach turns into a pumpkin Sat afternoon in sold-out Autzen (52k yesterday for Hawai'i!). and then comes SC, BruCru, Beavis, Wazzu in Pullman in Nov, and Utah. 6-6 might get you a Blue Smurf Potato Bowl.

You really think Prime is the reason the Pac12 is getting respect this year? Lol.

Neon Dieon is a circus freak show. Prime promotes PRIME and PRIME only. The media eats it up because they love a good side-show and a soap opera. When they cover Colorado, it's all about Prime and his mug...the conference is an afterthought.Β

The Pac12 is earing respect because of the quality of its teams, it's quarterbacks and it's results on the field thus far. We have no less than 4 Heisman QB candidates this year. Prime has nothing to do with the respect the conference is getting. When Colorado loses its next two games will the Pac12 suddenly lose national respect? Please...

The conference finally is getting respect because it's earned it. But all anyone wants to talk about is Prime. I find it nauseating. It will be interesting to see how the media reacts when Colorado starts to lose. I personally look forward to it.

Eight ranked teams, with some solid wins over FBS schools: that will bring respect. Prime may be bringing a lot of eyeballs, which is always good. Ducks are 21 point faves over Buffs. Seems like a big spread, but Vegas generally knows what they're doing.Β

Hey...I am fine with your opinions but please don't MASSIVELY DISTORT what I write to fit your narrative.

You COMPLETELY MISSED my points which by and large have very little to do with respect for the Pac-12...which is a comment I attributed to fans not myself.

http://amp.awfulannouncing.com/college-football/colorado-win-tcu-fox-ratings.html

https://saturdayoutwest.com/colorado-buffaloes/colorados-victory-vs-nebraska-sets-fox-sports-ratings-record/

Deion Sanders is bringing record numbers of TV VIEWERS to Colorado games which means whoever they play brings more viewers to watch their opponents...which this Saturday means Oregon(and presumably future Pac-12 opponents too)...and since the game is at Oregon...people(including recruits) get to see Autzen at full capacity, whatever scenic and campus visuals are shown and so on...in other words all positive.

I am sorry if you don't understand or like or refuse to accept how all the dots connect to the benefit of the ENTIRE Pac-12...but that is neither a Deion or my problem.

You are free to ignore the reality noted in those two articles above and believe what? Dan Lanning, Bo Nix and the Oregon uniforms are why people from all over the country will, perhaps, make this the #1 watched college football game TV game(Ohio State vs Notre Dame will have monster viewership too) this weekend?

For someone who rants regularly about your dislike for USC and Kliavkoff...I would think you would appreciate what Sanders at Colorado has done to CREATE interest in terms of TV VIEWERSHIP which means the Pac-12 rides the coattails of a conference member for as long as we can...otherwise, please share what the Pac-12 Conference has done over the last decade and more to reach the level of hype SUPPORTED by numbers that we have now???

I am thankful Oregon is Colorado's first conference game; both teams are undefeated, ranked and the national media is TALKING about itπŸ™ That is respect too.

As per your argument re respect...then I assume you agree Sanders and Colorado have EARNED it with the turnaround of the program and on the field performances?

Regarding Prime himself...then don't listen to him. Hit the mute button or change the channel. Simple.

I recall in Chip Kelly's time at Oregon how his "media style" with his often abrupt, sometimes condescending answers to media questions drew a lot of dislike as well...but people tuned in to watch the team with a no huddle offense, different uniforms each week and photos on boards on the sideline.

Personally I find Prime refreshing from all the usual repetitive coach speak.

All good.

However, I reject your premise that "The University of Colorado with ONE hire has done more to bring the spotlight to Pac-12 football than Larry Scott, George Kliavkoff and the administrators at all 12 schools could do combined in the last 10-15 years."

Colorado has put the spotlight on COLORADO!!Β  They are nothing but a side-show act. When Prime goes 6-6 and they are still talking about Prime and not the real teams in this conference, will you change your tune?

I prefer substance over style every day of the week plus Sundays.

Eyeballs really mean nothing. It's all about wins and losses and nothing else in the grand scheme of things.

Prime is DETRACTING from the conference IMO, and yeah it pisses me off.

And I also believe Colorado and Prime may have been the final domino that killed off the conference, so I'm bitter about that. Very bitter.

The Big12 can have him if he's even still the coach next year which is probably 50/50.

Re: Bring on the Prime hype train!πŸ™

Eyeballs really mean nothing??? In stadiums and on TV, eyeballs = $$$ which benefits the schools which helps them build(pay coaches salaries as one example) quality teams.

From one article about the Oregon and UW going to the BIG...

"The two schools will receive a $35-$40 million share per year in the Big Ten β€” money graciously sent by Fox Sports, the Big Ten’s main media rights partner, a source told Front Office Sports."

OSU and WSU are "stuck" due to small stadiums and SMALL media markets. Oregon is an outlier thanks to Phil Knight.

EYEBALLS are a MAJOR factor in the successes of a team...especially now with NIL and conference realignment... recruiting, facilities, salaries...it is a long list.

As for Prime, yeah he brings attention to Colorado...and? Who did Chip Kelly bring attention to while at Oregon? The entire conference? How did Oregon State benefit from Chip Kelly?

The last time I checked, Nick Saban brings attention to himself and Alabama more than anyone else. Success breeds attention and as in the case of Prime / Colorado, some of the attention spills over into the entire Pac-12. Just as Saban / Alabama do for the SEC far more than Vanderbilt.

Speaking of, you are probably okay with Phil Knight trying to buy a football championship? How does he benefit any school other than Oregon let alone the Pac-12 itself? You okay with him drawing attention to Oregon with all the wonderful facilities?

I am just happy the media has, for the moment, "abandoned" the SEC and are talking about a coach / school in MY conference. But I have realized there are a lot of Pac-12 so-called "fans" who despise it.

The same venom you have for what Prime has done for Colorado, there are LOTS of people who feel exactly the same way about Oregon and Knight.

I think Prime has A LOT of leeway and leverage. If you have followed what has transpired at Colorado...besides winning 3 games so far which is more than some predicted; season tickets and their Spring Game sold out...from a team that was 1-11 last year. SOLD OUT! Oops...there we are back to those eyeballs.

Like it or not, Colorado is the hottest topic in college football at the moment...that is not an opinion...it is fact.

This is his FIRST year at the school...so what if he goes 6-6? He has already surpassed expectations of many on the field, positively impacted the bottom line; energized the fan base, etc.

His FIRST game was on the road at TCU who 9 months ago played in the National Championship Game and not only did Colorado win, Prime's son set a school record in passing! He can coach too.

The Pac-12 disintegrated due to the proverbial "death by a thousand cuts" not because Colorado left the Conference. Economic reality.

For a blog that is supposed to be β€œAll About Ducks” this conversation has sure turned Prime. 😟😣.  He is obviously having his desired effect.

It's obvious you have a man-crush on Sanders. So be it.

Yeah, Oregon was the flashy kid on the block too. But we actually backed it up with 10-, 11- and 12-win seasons, NY6 Bowls, Playoff and National Championship game appearances.Β  Phil has created something that will stand the test of time. Colorado will be broke down on the side of the road in a year or two. Enjoy the show.

Substance over style.Β

Wins > Eyeballs.
