For any who are following this as closely as I am, one source claims that Oregon is 24-48 hours away from hiring it's new OC. It claims the likely candidates are Will Hall, Joe Moorhead, Jedd Fisch and Jorge Munoz, who is said to have made a "strong impression". This article also provides some good info on each of the candidates.
Everything I've read about Moorhead indicates that if Oregon could land him, he would be amazing. The others appear to be highly qualified as well. It seems this is the "short list" as Cristobal called it. But whoever it is, we're likely to know soon.
Is it just me, or does it sound like Moorhead lost control of his program?
I'm not sure what happened there. My feeling is the admin might be placing blame on him for something out of his control. He wouldn't be The Man here, but MC will undoubtedly look into that. I'll try and read more about what happened.

I'm liking Munoz best of all the candidates at this point.

I agree, UM. Maybe that's why we aren't hearing anything. Nothing can be done till after the NC game. He seems like a great fit.

I like Munoz too. However, how big of a jump would it be for Munoz to go from 'analyst' to OC of a team with as high a profile (and expectations) as Oregon?

He actually has a lot of experience at various stops, and seems to be highly thought of. This article talks about LSU analysts in general.

It's just you. No, I don't think there's any question about it. That's why he was fired.
Reason for concern, if he is hired? I don't think so, for several reasons. First, he won't be the head coach. The tone of the program will continue to be set by Cristobal. Second, culture has already been established at Oregon and, knowing what I do about Coach Cristobal, if someone doesn't fit the culture, they're gone anyway (think Jim Leavitt, who was a great guy and a bright coach, but didn't quite fit). Third, I'm very sure this subject has been explored ad nauseam throughout the interview process. If he is the next OC, he must have had the right answers.
I read one article that said whoever it is, it should be done within 24 hours. Football Scoop (via 247) is saying 36.

I realize there's a bit of dirt around Moorhead right now, but I believe he would be brilliant at Oregon. Munoz seems like a really good teacher and offensive mind too. Whoever it is, I really trust Mario is going to do the best thing. I think he reads people pretty well.
Online!
I don't like the Monday night slot either. I've missed a good chunk of games from not being able to make it home from work in time. I always thought a Saturday or Sunday would make more sense. 16 days seems a bit too long on top of that.

Perhaps almost as big as jumping from New Hampshire to OC at Oregon?

It looks like Joe Moorhead is in town, interviewing with Mario today. 247 says others have been/will be in town. To me it feels like Moorhead is in the lead. I think he would be a steal for the Ducks, if in fact they can land him. His offenses in the past have been called innovative, "elite" and "funner" (
Meanwhile, Washington is hiring John Donovan as its OC. He's a former Jacksonville Jaguar Assistant RB coach. Prior to his stint at Jacksonville, he too (like Moorhead) coached at Penn State as the OC. Wiki had this to say about him: "Donovan came under heavy criticism from the Nittany Lion fan base for questionable play calling. In November 2015, he was fired from the Penn State program." Some however, called him a scapegoat for other problems. Whatever the case, the year after he was fired, Moorhead (above) was hired and Penn State won the Big 10 championship.
With Donovan at Washington and if Oregon DOES land Moorhead, that's another Oregon win, imo.

Don't see any downside to hiring this guy from everything being reported. He will be here 2-3 years max before his next HC opportunity comes about, so he will have a definite impact on the growth and payoff of a young OL and QB corps. Is the new OC (whoever they hire) designed to be the QB coach as well? Does this guy have that in his arsenal?

). I know they had some personnel issues at Mississippi State, but those could have come up for various reasons. I'm confident those kinds of things will not happen with Cristobal around.

I was at the Penn State vs Washington 2017 Fiesta Bowl (I was given free tickets, accommodations, etc.) when Moorehead was OC/QB coach for Penn State. Penn State would win 35-28. The score appears the teams were matched better than they were. Penn State dominated Washington throughout the game.
I'd rather have Moorehead on my team than go up against him.

OK, this is a speculative thread and I'm going to revive it. Akili Smith just tweeted out something that has been on my mind the past couple of days. Why haven't we heard anything about Oregon's new OC? Is it possible that they're waiting until AFTER the NC game to announce it? Hmmmmm....
Anyway, tomorrow's the NC game but it's also a huge day for Oregon fans. The 4 early draft considerations are holding a conference at 11:00 AM to presumably announce their decision. I think they're coming back but we'll soon see. It would be amazing to have these 4 back to help develop all of that young talent. And then in the next day or two, we may be hearing who Cristobal has selected to be the new OC.
GO LSU! I hope their offense looks amazing.
