I just wonder if it will be competitive?
Depending on which direction WSU(and OSU) go and their ability to recruit coaches and players is the key.
It takes MONEY to have facilities, a good coaching staff and player talent...the UW and UO will have that going to the BIG but WSU and OSU?

Competitive or lucrative?
At the end of the day, this is entertainment. And there is a lot of money at stake for a matchup like this for both schools instead of a G5 or FCS opponent.
With such a smaller market size in general, I'm unsure if the enthusiasm for Civil War is on the same par as the Apple Cup. OSU may be thinking in terms of wins versus tradition as they are on a mission to prove that the program can still make P5 waves in the future... They might prefer the FCS game instead as at their newer level they have to basically be undefeated to make the future playoff... Correct???

what's more interesting is that some are interpreting this as a puff of white smoke indicating that the member schools are ready to reach a settlement on the breakup of the Pac-12.
Pac-12 Conference is a multi-state corp headquartered in Cali, so the ruling last week by Judge Cowbell of Cornpone County in WA state court is far from the final word (despite Huckleberry Oram wetting his Depends in a contemporaneous column).
most likely outcome is a settlement whereby Wazzu and OS are compensated something along the lines of the reported $23 mill per year of the declined Apple broadcast proposal for one or two years. and then the ten departing schools get their remaining shares of the money. the notion that Wazzu & Beavis could somehow grab the whole $$ pot is too far-fetched.
everything is secretive, behind-closed-doors, and there are lawyers around every corner. but it doesn't seem likely that UW & WSU would sked five years's worth of Apple Cups unless a satisfactory resolution of the P-12 breakup is within reach.
