The Ducks got a lot of attention during the Chip years and during MM's tenure for sure.
This time around feels different though. I've heard a lot of national sports journalist talk frequently about the Ducks. Not only that they talk about actually watching the games.
In years past it's like a lot of folks back east maybe caught a few glimpses here and there. Widely the take was the offense was fun, but would fall when they played the big boys. ESPN especially didn't give us much respect.
This year I'm hearing how great the Ducks look. This wasn't the take to start the season either. More than ever eyes are on the Ducks and people like what they see.
While out on an errand a few days back Colin Cowherd had Urban Meyer on. BTW sorry for the cringe factor as Urban as about as bad as it gets for his lack of character. Colin has the Ducks in the top 3 and Urban thought only Georgia and the Ducks are in a class of their own. All other kinds of sports journalist say that nobody wants to play the Ducks. Colin mentioned actually watching their games now. He's beat the drum for USC where he resides and went to school in WA so he's never been a pro Ducks guy by any means.
There's really too many articles and journalist to mention all the respect the Ducks are getting. Common themes revolve around good coaching, Dan Lanning is the best motivator in college football, Bo's execution, O-line strength, Ducks all-round ability to play both sides of the ball and match any style. And the list goes on.
Of course the talk doesn't matter and getting a win is all the matters today. That said I feel like a 1 loss team wouldn't have made it in the past and this year is different.

Excellent take, Phil.
As a long-time Duck fan with lots of scar tissue, it's really been disorienting this year, how universally the punditry loves and respects us. It is indeed very different. If we are honest, our strength of schedule is poop, and it would have been a source of ridicule in the past. I mean there's no way in hell we would be ahead of Alabama or Texas. Just no way. And I'm sure Alabama and Texas are just as disoriented as I am.
But GOD I LOVE IT!!
It's about damn time Oregon got some respect. It's been long time coming and a lot of blood, sweat and tears over the last 3 decades. But, as you said we still got to win. And that's another difference this year as I don't feel this team will lay an egg in the biggest moments like I always feared in the past. I think we take care of Beavis this week and win a tough battle against UW for the conference crown. If we do that, we will be in position for the promised land.
GO DUCKS!!!
