Rough weekend for the Beavs: lost their conference, lost to their rival, and now lost their coach.

Talk about a crash and burn, thru no fault of their own! I lived in Oregon for nearly 30 years and always pulled for the Beavs unless they played the Ducks. (Never WA or USC!!) It is a sad year for the university that does not appear to have a place to go. There will be a mass exodus of players following him to MSU including Martinez. Wow, what a turn of events! What more s--t can one program take?

Actually, it is their fault to some degree. OS spent decades sponging off the rest of the conference taking Bowl and TV revenue while barely contributing for said revenue. During that time, they became a joke and their pathetic fanbase blamed everyone but themselves for their demise. They finally started dumping hundreds of millions into football facilities, but by that time their legacy was already defined.
Now they blame Oregon for their current predicament. Screw 'em.

Shocked, but not shocked.
I think there are much better jobs he could get, but whatever. This will immediately have a devastating affect on the Beavers program. I must admit I find it terribly sad to watch.
I'm still bitterly, bitterly opposed to the destruction of the conference and our move to the Big 10.
But I gotta move on.
GO DUCKS!

Agree!
As well they(and WSU) have spent the ENTIRE regular season boasting about how they belong and legal maneuverings to get control of assets, etc.
Maybe they have tried behind the scenes but I would have been asking(begging?) the MWC, "How can we join you guys?"
Get IN a conference first; figure out the details later.

Which is EXACTLY why this lopsided rivalry mercifully(for OSU) needs to come to an end...to be resumed IF OSU can rebuild to a competitive program.
Where / Who / How is OSU going to replace Smith with anyone near his level? Pay for good assistants? Recruit high school TALENT? Attract quality players from the Transfer Portal?
It is absurd to continue a rivalry for the sake of a rivalry when the resources will not even be comparable.
In the last 15-years starting when it was still the Pac-10...
Oregon is 12-3 against OSU.
Oregon has won by an average of 20 points / OSU by an average of 6 points.
Oregon has scored 619 points in those 15 games; OSU 378.
Everyone including myself can point to individual games as meaningful but in the totality of the SERIES (Oregon leads 36-14 over the last 50-years), I am glad it has hit the pause button.🙏

One thing is for sure:
The Big10 just became a stronger conference.
