I can't remember the last time when Oregon had so many injuries to key players. With the recent news that Nate Bittle (wrist) and N'Faly Dante (knee) had surgery has made this once promising season a disaster. Bittle will be out a least two months, Dante at least one month. And Mookie Cook is still walking around in a boot. One bright spot was the return of Jackson Shelstad to the line-up. Replacing Bittle and Dante are freshman Kwame Evans Jr and senior Mahamadou Diawara.

Sounds like a carbon copy of the last 3 years. It's hard to put the blame on Altman here.
But, man the basketball program has gotten so stale at Oregon, I love what Dana has done for the program, but I'd like to see a change at the helm. Its time.

Coach Altman certainly can't be blamed for all the injuries that the Ducks have had over the past three seasons. But I'm wondering if it has something to do with the training and workouts during the off season. I know he addressed this issue, saying they have cut back to some extent so the players aren't exhausted when the season begins. Whatever it may be, it seems to be more than 'bad luck'. Dana's contract runs through 2028 at 4 million per year. He is the 2nd highest paid coach in the PAC-12. Personally I would hope he stays around. I don't see him being terminated.

Yeah, I don't see him getting fired either.
But you have to admit there has been zero excitement around the men's program in years. A lot of that is a reflection on the coach. I mean, Altman sounds like friggin' Eeyore in his interviews.
I guess what I was thinking is that Dana should maybe retire. He's said more than once that he doesn't like the new landscape of recruiting, transfers, NIL etc. He doesn't like the modern athlete who isn't willing to fight through adversity or is not willing to sit on the bench for 5 minutes before they are clamoring for the exits.
I also don't believe he is thrilled at all to be heading to the Big 10.
Anyway, love Dana but to me it's like being in denial and waiting way to long before finally putting the dog to sleep lol. Just my opinion.
