I know a lot of us had concerns when reports surfaced about Jamie Newman's interest in U of O. Fortunately, that appears to be a dead end. Several reports coming out tonight that he's already enrolled in the U of Georgia. Let these young, talented kids battle it out and emerge. At least one of them is going to be a very good QB at this level. Shough has already proven on a small scale that he can shine.

I agree. We have a solid QB room. I was not looking forward to a grad transfer. I know that 3 of the 4 CFP teams have grad transfers, but I just felt there was no need at this time.

Grad transfers definitely have their place. I just don't think this was the time or situation for it. Shough has done everything he was asked to do and he's been extremely productive in his limited playing time. Millen was right there but was injured early. But he has a huge ceiling as well. Then you bring in two of the top freshman QBs in the nation. I'm not sure Newman would be an upgrade over whoever wins that battle. There's a lot of talent there. And I think it could have been the wrong message.

I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw this on Twitter. I’m not a fan of grad transfers with Coach Cristobal. He’s a master recruiter and has stocked the program with some highly rated recruits. I personally am patient enough to let these kids grow with the program.

Agree, this is good news.

Happy to hear that, too. Five QB's on campus is way to many. Ashford, Butterfield and Shough are 4****recruits. Millen is a high 3***recruit. We don't know if Millen will have any lingering problems with the injury. Ashford may well go the baseball route. It could be between Shough and Butterfield. We'll know in a couple of months how things shake out.

Nice...really hope it's Shough and he follows Justin's footsteps in staying through his senior year and leading this team. He has played well in limited action and in spring games. He has good size and I'm sure he know the offense well by now (might be a wrinkle if the new OC is drastically different), so I hope he steps up and seizes the opportunity!
