A bunch of subpar and a little above average teams duking it out this time of year? No thanks.
Most of all the good games with the teams best players actually playing get lumped all together on a single day being New Years.
More importantly we're watching a bunch of backups. If it's my team I might be curious about seeing the QB of the future. I guess the USC QB was entertaining from others reports.
Imagine if the NFL or any other league started the postseason and the majority of teams had a number of their best players sitting out?
Props to Bo and Brandon and other Ducks for being an anomaly and playing in a game that I don't think most college players going to the draft would be playing in.
I wish we could go to a 12 team playoff this year. It's hard to see how it could be any worse than the current state of affairs. It's hard for me to relate to the folks that want to not have a playoff and just keep the bowl games.
Typically I root for the one underdog that usually makes it against the likes of Alabama and Georgia. This year I'll be hard pressed to root for anyone with the Huskies in the mix. My one cursosity is if the Huskies can play like they did against the Ducks is really the reason for me to watch.
After trying to watch the Alamo Bowl I rather watch the Browns and Jets on Thursday Night Football.

Hope you finished watching the Alamo Bowl? Ended up being a fun and crazy game and a UA victory and on Oklahoma loss which is always enjoyable in my book!! 😄
I agree that the Bowl situation is deteriorating, and it makes me sad. Let's just go with a 16 team playoff and eliminate Bowls altogether?
However, I'm not with you on the NFL. I have always found the NFL incredibly boring and I am not a fan. Call me weird, but other than the conference championship games and the Super Bowl, I have no interest. To tell you the truth I don't even know or care who is good this year.
This is the time of year I turn my attention to the NHL.

No, I had a good time watching Joe Flacco for the Browns.
I've yet to watch a bowl game this year. Nothing has interested me. For example I would be interested in watching Martinez run against Notre Dame later today. He's not playing though and I'm sure he's not the only player. It's an exhibition at best.
Hockey seems alright, but it's hard for me to get into without a pro team to root for in Oregon.

I've watched parts of many Bowl games so far. Watching Beavs right now. Guess I'm just a College football snob. It's just so much more of a dynamic brand of football to me. Every game is epic. (not bowls) every week seems vitally important to the fortunes of each teams season. So many more varieties in the style of play. The best players really stand out. NFL everything seems the same. Every player is a 5 star. A loss is no big deal.
Like you said, maybe if Oregon had a pro team I'd feel different?

I’m a huge college football fan and yet have almost no interest in the NFL. Seems more emphasis on score celebrations and banter than the game. I’ll occasionally watch the Broncos or Chargers if I see a game on the “Guide” but won’t schedule it on my calendar. Add in the Taylor Swift madness and off-field player shenanigans and I would rather watch paint dry (a good color of course).
I hope they completely revamp bowl games after the shift to a 12 team playoff. Too many games of mediocre teams. Maybe need an actually wining season, (not just 6/6) with 7 or 8 wins to qualify?
NHL good! I’ve started to go to grade school rink games here after I realized my chiropractor coaches kids league and they walloped the Denver schools last year for the cup.

Nice to know I'm not alone!
But yes, the Bowl system is so messed up right now. This year's games for the most part have been bad, bad, bad!
I'd like to see a 16-team playoff with no byes and the elimination of Bowl games altogether. And I'd like to eliminate the transfer portal until after the LAST game is played. So many things wrong with college right now. I only hope the game hasn't been ruined forever.

I like good football, college or NFL.
What is bad college football? Oregon playing Portland State as one of many such examples. At least the NFL pre-season games don't count.
NFL Playoff participants aren't decided by a vote either.
Only fans want bowl games eliminated. You never hear university administrators, coaches or even players advocating as such.
Too much money at stake for schools; coaches LOVE bowl games because they get an extra month of practices compared to teams who were done in November; players get opportunities to practice / play and perhaps show coaches more value...to say nothing of the travel $$$ coming into the host cities.
Whether anyone likes watching the bowl games is irrelevant...the economics of them and the extra "football time" takes precedent.
Admittedly the post regular season process in college football for both bowl games and Playoffs is VERY MESSY...coaches leaving for other jobs (imagine an NFL head coach leaving before his team plays in the post season); players opting out or entering the Transfer Portal...all mixed in with the early signing date for recruiting...a 12 team playoff(or pick any number) isn't going to solve the dysfunctional December calendar of college football.
I remember when a 4-team Playoff was "finally" going to be a solution😂
